Navigation SD Card Fault!

Recommended Posts

I have a 2014 Edge Limited(26k miles). It has an A6 SD Card. It was working fine until the other day. Now I am receiving a "Navigation SD Card Fault" notification on my screen and my navigation has stopped working. I pulled out the SD card and reinserted it numerous times. It started working again twice by doing that, but stopped working within a few minutes. I disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes and reconnected it and the Nav worked for 1 whole day. Now its not working again. I have seen older posts and never have seen a resolution for the problem. I would by a new SD card if I new it would fix it but I see that other people have done that and it still didn't work. I'm sure its some bug in the sync system. When I checked Sync it said I have the most updated version 3.7. On my system information screen in the car it says "navigation application version 3.62.5"

Anyone know a fix?

I would try roving the card and clean the contacts with an alcohol wipe. Before reinsertING tbe card, stick a vacuum cleaner hose up to the opening and suck out any dust, dirt, doggie hair, etc. that may have gotten in there.

If this doesn't work, remove the card and try a master reset.

I will give that a shot. When I turned the car on this morning it worked fine. After the car sat in the hot parking lot for 5 hours and turned the car on it didn't work as soon as I turned on the car. I removed the card several times and it didn't come back on.

Ummmmm, yea, but it involves a sledge hammer and a lot of vasoline. Seriously no, I would run it to the dealer. May involve a reload of software.

Do you have an older card you can try?

(BTW, this IS an OEM card, and not an Ebay clone, right?)

And can you confirm that you did a Master Reset?

Can you down load that card to a computer, and then up load to a new card? Does anyone know?

Cloning the SD card will not work. They are encrypted with a special key that the system can read, but prevents cloning them. (Otherwise theyd be selling for $10 on Ebay.)

I did the master reset. The card was the one in the car when I purchased it 4 months ago. Its an A6, so that sounds right for a late build 2014 Edge ??. But cant be sure. I don't have an older card to try. My software says 4.32.14073. When I checked on buying a new SD card it said that this version was fine, And it has worked fine for 4 months (I use it every day). Very disappointed in these ford navs. Everyone I have owned has had problems.

You can always try something simple first. If you have a way to use a windows PC to read the card, try this:

Put the card in and right click on it in windows explorer. Select properties, then the tools tab. Click on error checking.

Check the box that says automatically fix errors.

Let it do its thing and then try it in the car.

If there are some small file or card errors, that may help fix it.

Unfortunately I don't have an SD card reader on my laptop.

Its been sporadic the past couple of days. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I may just have to buy a new SD card and hope that's all it is.
