VMP is good....they know what they are doing.

Problem is.....they only have A/F ratio and timing to work with. They can advance the timing a tad for premium fuel only for 5-10 HP at top end, and can lean A/F a tad if it's slightly rich now. So very little gain is available, plus cost of hi octane fuel. Is it worth that to you? Plus cost of tune.

Some tuners talk about taking out the throttle lag......meaning the throttle moves more for same foot action. But full throttle is still same full throttle. It may feel more responsive at part throttle (because you're giving it more throttle than before), but is not faster at full throttle. Getting full throttle on engine at less than full throttle on foot doesn't make the vehicle faster.

after my experience on the highway today, Ford got the throttle mapping all wrong on the sport. I mashed the pedal and from the time it actually downshifted itself and went full throttle was almost 5 seconds, pathetic. I guess I could have manually downshifted, but that's beside the point, there shouldn't be that much lag.

i'd get a tune just to fix that.

if you get a tune for that.....might as well have them fix it so it doesn't pull timing and fuel for WOT shift. Make it shift harder. Also.....they can delete traction control if you live in no snow area. When computer senses any slp, even slip you don't feel, it may throttle back power. If performance is important to you. Tunes routinely do this kind of thing.....in addition to adding timing for premium fuel and leaning a tad.

I have a 2012 edge sport with an air intake and custom exhaust. I took the truck to steeda for a dyno pull and it did ok with 248 to the front wheels. then i had Justin Starkey at VMP in Florida email a tune file and the truck jumped to 263 at the wheels. So IMO, Justin did a great job and i would highly recommend using him. Also if you dont feel comfortable with that and live in south florida or in valdosta, ga then Steeda has a great tune file for the 3.7's! Hope that helps. I can get you in contact with my guys here in south florida if you want.
