Hello,

Awesome forum & awesome info.

I am looking into 2007 SEL Plus model

The rebates & special % fin are too good to pass. I drove 08 yesterday that dealer gave me for overnight evaluation.

What can I say ? Awesome CUV !

Only 1 thing is bugging me ...........power liftgate.

Everything is fine but when compared to 08 that difference hurts. :banghead:

Liftgate is heavy on 07 & 08 makes its very easy job of it.

My question is is there any way to add Power liftgate to 2007 edge ?

If it can be done then it will solve everything otherwise I may have to wait for 8-9 more months which I don't wanna do :finger: et....all.

Thanks

I would say where there is a will there is a way..

They make hard snug top tonoue covers for a truck that has a remote opener arms on it that auto lift..so I will say it CAN be done..but I am sure that it will not be easy. I am going to research it..But I am still happy I got the 07 because of the fugly handle on the 08 tailgates.

You are right Abrannan, I was thinking of the button for the dash that would have to be added. That attachment point on the rear door to be welded, the motor/rod to be added, the new dash and L. rear quarter trim panel to be added. Wiring to be hunted down and or added. Reprogramming the computer and new keys.

Kinda like the person would once said he would over come any brake problem, by adding new rotors and S.S. lines, calipers and pads.

Adding sync would be replacing the Steering wheel buttons, and wiring, New Radio's, rear-view mirror.

These are the people that talk about spending the money to retro-fit, but also want to know if there paying $100 to much for a vehicle.

Hey, i found one that works just like the factory one. I installed it on my wifes Edge. I got it from https://truckenhance.com . The link to the aftermarket power liftgate system kit is https://truckenhance.com/product/power-liftgate-system-foot-sensor/ . The best part it comes with a foot sensor to allow you to open the tail gate with you feet! So actually better than the dealer one!...lol. The wife loves it! Works great for those of you that wants one. It took me about 3 hours to do the installation, it's pretty straight forward.

I don't have a problem with the 2007 liftgate but my wife can never get it open.  2008, When they moved the handle lower gives you more leverage.  I think it was 08 when they started offering the auto liftgate.  It isn't just the motor mechanism that needs to be changed,  you also need the pull down lock/latch.

Make sure the struts on your gate are in good condition.  If they are going flat they will help less when lifting the tailgate.
