Ford Premium Care Plan Option

Recommended Posts

Okay guys, so I purchased a used 2013 Edge Sport late last year. I am considering purchasing a Premium Care plan. Recently I found out I am out of warranty as the car was purchased early 2012. Ohh well. Lombarford Warrantys has told me I can still get the car covered since I guess there is a 4 month out of warranty period whereby Ford will still issue the same quote as if it had been in warranty IF my car passes an inspection, Basically $1550 for 100k miles. I am still a little under 36k miles. I know I can probably get a lower quote somewhere else, but Lombardford offers payment plans, which would be preferable.

Let me get to my question. The covered interior and exterior light option for about another 75 dollars. Is it worth it?

Thanks to any insight here. I'm basically considering the extended warranty because my car had been in a car accident from the previous owner. Car required body work and now looks brand new, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I had my EDGE examined thoroughly by a mechanic before I purchased it. Car checked out great on that inspection.

Personally I would go for it. All it would take is one big failure to run up a bill of a few thousand. I bought the extended warranty when I bought my 09 MKX. So far I've used it twice and the total for replacing the brake booster and a failed vacuum line A (had to pull off all kinds of parts to reach it) would have cost a little over a grand. (Doesn't take much to run up a big bill on a modern SUV).

As for the $75 for exterior and exterior lighting, HID problems will blow through the $75 fast. That's an hour's labor. I would say it's a no brainer.

Thanks for the input.
