Reverse Alarm Inoperative

Hey guys, did a search and couldn't find anything on the reverse beeper.

My 2010 Edge, the reverse alarm stopped working. I checked and it is turned on. The only thing I can think of around the time it stopped was I replaced the battery. Wondering if the ecu needs to be reprogrammed or something.

Any help or an idea where to look would be greatly appreciated!!!

Check under "Rear Parking Aid", as it is officially known :) Is the Edge working fine otherwise? Have you tried turning the key to RUN (but not starting engine), then shifting into Reverse? Should still hear the beeping if there are objects close enough to the rear bumper.

Usually it is either alignment of the sensors under the rear bumper cover, one or more sensors are actually faulty, or possibly the Parking Aid Module has actually malfunctioned. Also should check the connections at the sensors, they can develop rust. If so, clean with a stiff brush, apply dielectric grease & reconnect. Wiring may actually need to be replaced, again, usually in the sensor area.

There isn't any "intelligent" connection between ECU (PCM) & battery until the 2011 model year, so not to worry on that score. Good idea though!
