Sunroof ford defect

My 2013 Ford Edge sunroof wouldn't close one evening while out with my 3 week old daughter. After taking it to the dealership was told it needed a complete frame replacement! 50k miles extended warranty 3rd party and doesn't cover the frame for the sunroof. $2600. Absolutely REDICULOUS. It took all day for them to even get it closed. Ford defect! Would be different if I had a wreak or a tree branch fell on the car. I have a few friends who work for Ford service and told me when I bought the car not to use the sunroof much. I know now it's bc they know they have and issue and don't want to be responsible for it. The sunroof has always run slow and had problems closing and was at dealership service dept prior to original warrant expiration. No one from customer service is any help, just get the run around. Will never buy another Ford!!!!! First and last American made vehicle. Never had any problems with my Hyundais or Nissans. Ford needs to recall these sunroofs!

You mentioned that you were at the dealership service dept prior to original warranty expiration. Was it for the sunroof? If so, I would try and make a case through the district Ford rep that the issue originated while under warranty and that Ford should address it. If they blow you off, there's always arbitration if the original issue was documented on the service record. I have a '13 Limited and I have only had one minor issue besides a bungled software update, but I 'always' have issues documented on the service invoice regardless of how minor just in case they manifest themselves later on. Good luck. $2600 sucks.

So pulling the neg battery cable for 30 min or pulling the fuse for the sunroof did not do anything? Have you inspected the tracks carefully to see if some part has come loose, causing blockages? If you can get it to move at all: we have threads on "slow" sunroofs & re-initialization, not sure if those procedures will help. Greasing the tracks is also helpful.
