Vista Roof Broken!! Please Help!

Recommended Posts

I was driving with my roof open and when I tried to close it I heard a loud crack and the motorized track slider was detached from the sunroof glass.

I could see the slider being moved by the motor, but it was moving freely.

I had to push the glass down as much as possible, to try to close it, but wasn't able to close it all the way.

Any idea how I could fix this? At least how to close it so that rain won't leak into my car? I have it duct taped shut now!!!

I just had exactly the same thing happened to my 2011 Edge Limited. I didn't hear any sound, the glass just wouldn't slide back and I saw that the sliders were riding freely without the glass attached. a Ford dealer gave me a 4K estimate to replace the whole assembly. Did you get any better answer?

Unfortunately the same happened to my MKX!! The guides only come with the complete rail, ~ $345 for each side.

Searching around online, I found some Escape owners that bought repair kits from a company called TG Automotive. I just e-mailed to ask if they plan to offer a similar kit for the Edge. Maybe if they get enough requests they'd consider it.

Also, anyone can help in the procedure for changing them? They are called "Lift Channels", parts numbers 7T4Z78502C07B & 7T4Z78502C06B. My dealer quoted me $2,200/- for the whole job, they'd probably go down to ~ $1500, but that's still too much.
