Edge Sport puddle light addition

I installed some additional puddle lights on my Focus ST awhile back and my wife took interest. She told me that when she gets her Edge she wants the same thing. It's a simple little mod but makes the car look much better. Pumping your gas in a fluorescent lit gas station at night, people start to look. I just tide them into the light up "Edge" on the door sill.

Puddle lamps: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-LED-Rear-Side-Mirror-Door-Ghost-Lights-for-Ford-Edge-Explorer-Mondeo-Taurus-/322088158674

They didn't exactly fit, had to grind the metal housing down (built very well) and ended up gluing them in because they still wouldnt snap in. They look pretty awesome at night, however they are not as bright as OnTheeEdge's puddle lamps.

Did you have any issues getting the OEM puddle lights out of the mirror housing? I played with mine a bit today and they wedge themselves after getting them out a bit. Thinking of getting some LED puddles to replace the OEM ones.

I used my thinnest, smallest flathead bit. Like the one from a watch repair kit, that thin. Once you pop the clip and have it where it feels wedged. Start on the clip side and get the screwdriver angled so it goes up and over the top of the puddle light and push down. I did this every quarter inch or so like opening a paint can if that makes sense? By the time you get to the opposite side of the clip(where the two wires snap on) it should either fall out or be able to be wiggled the rest of the way.

I highly suggest doing LEDs here, much brighter and more usable light hits the ground. The stock ones seem to just light up the side of the door

I broke one of them removing it, which is why I had to replace them. As Tjm623 suggested, use a super small flat head bit and get the clip side to disconnect first, then on the opposite side there is a little black rectangle thing on the puddle lamp, get something(toothpick) to unlatch it from the mirror housing. Just be careful and you'll be able to wiggle it out.

Well apparently the proper way is to take the mirror apart first. Seems like a big task but it is actually fairly simple. I still had the "wedge" problem though and found if I put a screwdriver on the opposite side of the release tab and "pushed/pulled" hard enough the back side dropped out and then using the release tab, came out no problem.
