MN12 Posted June 21, 2016 Report Share Posted June 21, 2016 I have had an issue crop up a couple times and have been able to clear it but I don't know how to get to the root cause. When I start the car the odometer will be blank and if placed in drive seems to be locked in the top gear. Both times I have been able to clear it by shutting down, opening the door and restarting. I pulled the codes and there are multiple communication failures from seemingly unrelated systems like the VSS, instrument cluster, PATS, etc. would all these be related to the CAN Bus or am I looking at a flakey PCM? 230,000 miles Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Waldo Posted June 21, 2016 Report Share Posted June 21, 2016 All of those symptoms are related to items that are communicated over the CAN bus directly between the cluster and the PCM, so more than likely it is something in the wiring between the two but could also be the PCM or the cluster itself.
