Will Newer Style 2011-2014 Outside Mirrors fit older Gen 1's?

Recommended Posts

Size comparison... New one with blind spot mirror, old without.

As an FYI, the blind spot glass came on the 2009 MKX, they switched over mid year. (I changed the glass on mine to get the bsm, never considered going to a complete mirror housing for a later year).

Looks good however.

Congrats, any difference in wind noise at speed?

I haven't driven with them on yet. The passenger side mirror should arrive on Wednesday and then I'm taking the caps in to get painted. I'm hoping I'll have them on the car permanently next week.

Thanks! Yeah, the whole experiment started because of three ideas in my head:

1) I like the way the shape of new style mirrors look a little better than the early style like my MKX had.

2) I rented a Taurus on a trip out west in early June and really liked the blind spot mirrors once I got used to them.

3) I love the way the MKX looks however, the large chrome caps on the larger old style mirrors aren't exactly my taste. My plan is to ultimately "de-chrome" the car a little bit. I originally figured I'd get paint to match mirrors regardless of which model of mirror I went with.

Anyway, I'm glad the new style is plug and play. I made sure I got the mirrors with the exact same options I already had (except the blind spot mirrors which require no power). I will post some better before and after pics once the new ones are ready to go on.

Ok folks.... Just got the new, freshly painted 11-14 Edge Mirrors installed on my 09 MKX. Looks pretty dang sharp if you ask me but I'm biased.

Probably good for an extra 10HP and 5MPG... Lost a little low end TQ though. Lol
