Just like you can't test the battery with an old analog type load tester for today's vehicles, there are in situ tests that need to be done with the alternator in the vehicle. In fact, macbwt had made a video on the Solar BA5 IIRC and one on alternator replacement in which he provides insight on these issues. Look up his YT channel.
