Hi.

So I have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited with the 3.5

Best options for chips? I primarily wanna increase MPG .

What does the chip do exactly? Reprogram the shift points I think?

Are some really as plug n play as they indicate?

Does cost = savings? I know it ll be over time (i.e. if a chip can increase 4mpg, id save over a timeframe... but if a chip is gonna cost me $100, $250. $500.... gotta keep that in mind)

I, Love, My, Edge! Everyone else does too haha... I commute 50-90 min one way to work in the D.C. area, goin thru a divorce and custody shit too... Thnx in advance! I hope this will help me a good bit with my $ if i can save more on gas haha..

Just for more info - the only real change you can make to the engine to get more mpg is to advance the timing. This will yield more power and typically a slight increase in mpg. But in order to prevent knocking you need to run higher octane (91 or 93) fuel which costs more. The added fuel cost outweighs any small mpg gains.

But look at it this way - if it was easy to add 3-4 mpg with a simple bolt-on (and no downsides) the auto mfrs would have done it years ago.

I put a tune on our 2013, and it really had a difference. The throttle response is much better and the over all driving experience is better.

I would pursue that direction if I were you. There are several owners with tunes out there.
