Dead Battery, or Maybe Something Else?

I found this morning I was having electrical issues with my 2013 Ford Edge SEL. These issues included:

  • Doors would only partially unlock
  • Car started sluggishly
  • Touch screen and buttons on console not responsive
  • Also, would receive the following message when turning off the car "System Off to Save Battery, Please turn Ignition off or start engine"

A cursory look online suggested a dead battery. I just had it replace and the car runs fine now; however I still get the message "System Off to Save Battery, Please turn Ignition off or start engine" when turning off the car. This leaves me concerned. Anyone have or have had a similar issue? Is this something that needs to be reset after replacing the car or does it suggest a mechanical fault of some sort (perhaps that is draining the battery). Thanks for feedback gang.

Did you leave the car untouched for approximately 8 hours? This is required to reset the battery management system (or whatever it was called).

If you did leave the car for 8+ hours untouched, make sure the battery terminals are connected correctly and that there are no loose connections.

No I have not; I was worried as the message was there right after getting the battery changed. So what you are saying is that this will (potentially) correct itself overnight? Thanks!

I noticed similar problem after i jumped someone.i noticed the connection on the positive side with was lose not the actual connection but the other thing thats connected to the connection it was causing a short and my info display was going black and then back on again. I made sure i tighten the bolts. Ford told me that the part thatcis connected to the possitive is part of a charging system.make sure everything is tightened be careful not to strip the bolt.hope this helps. Also if you find your self stalling you might have to change the purge canister valve dont let the dealership rip you off tgey quoted me $210.00 for tge job the part cost about 75-100 at any auto parts store and takes about ten mins to change.
