Intercooler - Sport

They will remote tune within certain parameters, they have tested a set of scenarios, and if your mods fall within those scenarios, remote tune! "Substantial" upgrades like bigger turbos and AM intercooler, they will definitely want to put the vehicle on the dyno.

And what would you use the log the parameters? They have advised a couple times they will not remote tune.

That's the whole thing. There is no logging with the MyCal devices with LME. They know the parameters they are comfortable with for remote tunes, and will tell you once you send them the list of upgrades performed/being performed. If the upgrades fit their schema, they will send you an appropriate updated tune (via Email or their server). If it falls outside their schema, that's where onsite tuning comes in. There is no collection of enduser data (logs). They have access to many more parameters for tuning due to their close relationship with Ford, and thus can churn out tunes that stress the engine less for the same performance level. Longevity comes in tow with that.

I think we are thinking two different things. I mean remote tune as in "hey I have a water meth injection and full exhaust can you take these logs and maximize my tune". You are referring to "hey do you have a tune for my new modifications like water meth and exhaust?" And that's going to be a no, bring the car in for a dyno tune for mods or yes we do and we'll send you an updated file.

For the Edge, LMS has advised no development is going to go towards the platform, intake, exhaust, nothing. So your mods aren't going to be fully utilized and you'll be SOL.

In an effort to keep the thread topics pure I'm responding to Mikula's IC Info request that he posted on the RMM topic thread here for the benefit of all.

My Response:

Ref attached Pics of the stock IC.

Note: The two piping schematics are of the 2016-2017 Edge Sport & the 2017 Fusion Sport.

However, due to CPe's direction to keep their proprietary Info confidential for now I cannot distribute Pics nor measurements.
I can say that their striving for plug & play. At this point their considering to remove the 2 into 1 pipe on the hot side and go direct into the IC with dual inlets. This will be better for performance and allow cross compatibility with the Fusion Sport. I've also suggested they replace the cold outlet pipe with a consistent circumference pipe.

I also took measurements for the stock intercooler since I have mine upgraded to 100% aluminum/bar&plate

STOCK
Core Overall
L 25 7/8'' 37''
W 2 1/2'' 2 1/2''
H 6 1/8'' 8 1/4''

snmjim - interested in understanding how they would keep both pipes separate in such a tight space, but would be good for standardization across the platform

Not sure how I can convey the 2 into 1 pipe (aka Y pipe) concept & room any better without specific questions... :banghead:

When U remove the Y pipe there is a space there which might allow for the dual pipe concept direct 2 the IC.... :reading:

However, piping is the least of CPe's concerns at this point N the project.

The big issue 2 B ID is will there B enough room behind the hot side of the IC 2 allow 2 inlet pipes that shoot straight back instead of one big pipe going up & ever so slightly back...

All questions & concerns will B addressed once we get on the rack at CPe... :hat_tip:

I know in most cases the hot inlets normally come from the same direction. but couldn't one inlet come from the top, one come from behind, or the side, or 45* angled from either?

i don't know much about IC's, or if there is a particular reason both inlets generally come from the same direction.

Since i have yet to remove my bumper to get a look at it, is there any space above the IC? I'm looking at some universal ones from a lot of different companies, but some are up to 11" tall, and i don't know what it looks like as far as space back/up/forward of the stock mount

@GT500R did you post a link about it at all or share the link or part number??? 5% larger is fine but if it flows better and is bar and plate its thermal efficiency is substantially better than stock making it a good alternative.

Have you taken a log with it?

I have, posted it in the FB group -

Lets start off with HAPPY NEW YEAR!... :happy feet:

I realize that many of you have been patiently waiting for this information but unfortunately there are those who can find the time to take what we have to offer but can't find the time to give back.

That being the case here, to spare you any further delay I'm going to at least provide the pics and highlight in red the areas of focus i.e. cutout modification.

You can blame the hatchet job on the highlighted cut on the owner...

Note: since this is going to be a large post I'll break it into three sections:

- Comparative

- Removal

- Installation

Here's the 1st of 3 posts:

looks like they did a decent job there. I wish ford would have made their design more like some of their other ecoboost engines. the air having to come down before passing through the IC then changing directions out of the other side is just a poor design. but then again, this isn't supposed to be a racecar!
