2016 Edge Mud/Splash guard question-opinions

I am on the fence about getting mud/splash guards. I like the added protection they give but with the 19" wheels I don't feel a big need for them either as the tires do not extend out from the wheel well. Only real issue would be the front wheels when turning.

I like the clean look of the Edge without them and can't seem to find many pics of Edges with the mud/splash guards installed, so I can't really see if these would stand out like a sore thumb or not.

So I figure I would throw this out to the forum.

What do you think of the OEM mud guards on the Edge? To square? Stick out too far? Ugly?

At $90 for a set seems a little pricey for a piece of molded plastic, though it is cheaper than repairing a gouge from a rock or something being thrown up the side of your car.

Only issue with that is they don't have the Husky for the 2016's yet. Only one's I found out there were the OEM or Ebay stuff from China.

I did get some all weather mats from Maxliner they fit like a glove. but outside may not be as bad since the lower half of mine is the black plastic.

I hear running boards can help too but more so for the front wheels the rear basically seem to just project that short bumper section at the back of the car.

chefduane i hear you about the pictures took me a little bit of looking but you have to go to the photo gallery, Select the upload button (upper right). Then Select album if you don't have one then you have to create on then select it. The thing I had to do was use the simple uploader as the advanced one didn't seem to work. for me so you have to load each picture one at a time.

No worries on the pics though. as we have different body styles I have seen the guards on the 11-14 Edges. Like the look of the Husky brand on that body style. Ford's as I say are too square.

Hey Oneedge. Thanks for those pics..they actually don't look as bad as i thought they might. I do still wish they were a bit rounder on the outside. but they don't stick out like a sore thumb either. I have seen a lot of close up pics but have been wanting to see the full car with them on to see how much they stand out.

Hmm now I have even more to think about....

1 hour sounds about right 15 min per wheel. I know they simply pop in the existing holes once you get the pins/clips out.

Probably the same as putting in the deflector. I purchased the AVS a lot cheaper than from Ford. was a great fit and screws right into existing. I like to be able to install stuff and not drill or modify the car.

Hey it also looks like you tinted the back and front side windows. do you mind me asking what percentage you got for the back. The back on mine is tinted from the factory but was thinking of going darker. Where I am the front can only go 70% so honestly can't tint the front though I could go 50% and hope I don't get a ticket but then I am out that $ if I have to remove it.

I have a 2016 Edge Sport and installed a set of OEM and they actually look OK. Although, I think Ford could of did a better job with the fit. Some people think splash guards look "hokey", but after you see how much debris they catch then you will run out a buy a set. I bought a set from Husky for my wife's 2013 and they do wonders on protecting the paint. Check with Husky before investing in a pair of OEM. Think of them from the investment for your paint when you decide to trade up
