Custom Emblems Needed

Here's my 2016 Edge Sport. Absolutely love this car. I bought it with the 20 inch wheels but ended up replacing them with the 21's after black gloss powder coating, black center caps, black gorilla locking lugs. I'd like to finish the Ruby Red on Black look all around, including all the chrome emblems/logos. Its pretty easy to find the 9" and 5" ford oval emblems in all sorts of custom configurations, but i'm having trouble finding the rear tailgate "EDGE" and "SPORT" logos in black. Any suggestions on getting this done would be greatly appreciated! Anything other than plasti-dip that is. I'm not sold on that plasti-dip stuff, I just feel like it will come off after a month or two, although I've never used it so it may be better than I think. I'm looking for a high end paint option.

I guess its worth a shot to try plasti-dip. Worst case, I can always take it off easily, right? I just wish it came out a little more glossy. All the videos and pictures I've seen with plasti-dip looks like the finish is very matte, is this correct? I'm getting my custom painted Ford logos this week for the front and rear. Had the ford lettering and outer oval border done in ruby red on black background. I'll post pics when I get them on.

Can anyone give me any instructions for removing the front and rear ford emblems? I think the front has actual screws holding it on and the rear is simply double sided taped on. Is this correct? any instructions on removing the front ford emblem would be appreciated greatly!

Rear one is mounted by double sided tape and two pressure clips, comes right off with a trim tool. The only way to remove the front one is to take of he the whole front bumper cover/grille.

I can't image that the whole bumper cover needs to come off in order to remove the grille Ford emblem. That cant be right. Anyone else have any experience removing the front emblem off a gen II Edge? I can see that it might involve removing the grille, but the bumper cover??

Can't remove the grille without removing the bumper cover.... ive had the front end off 4 times.

Damn, that sucks, that's for confirming that though...any links or instructions you can offer me? At this rate I might as well just have a proper body shop do it for me if it is that in depth. Although I'm pretty good with working on cars so maybe I can do it myself if I can get some decent instructions from someone, we'll see. Thanks again.

For the lettering: You can get plastidip in gloss black, or use the matte black and do 1 -2 top coats with their clear gloss plastidip. It actually holds up well (over 1 year on mine now did about 10 coats) One trick to get a smooth finish is to let the cans sit in warm water for 10 mins prior to spraying, and then keep them warm between coats.

Or you can order some lettering off ebay and just use a heat gun to remove the chrome ones. (just create a template to have the new lettering aligned properly)

General FYI...

I know this may sound cheesy however, a QUALITY overlay is a great bang for the buck alternative if you use QUALITY materials (ProStickers) and have an experienced wrapper, not to be confused with a rapper..., do the job.

Check out the "SNM Jim" photo album or Pics available upon request.

BTW, no I do not get any benefits from this, it doesn't pay enough besides I'm gainfully employed Federally...;-)

In addition to the Plastidip issue.

In my past I've painted aircraft for USN airshows using advanced paint systems like polyurethane (sp?) and always frowned on the long term results of painting rims. However, after educating myself and testing the Plastidip paint system I have to give it two thumbs :2thumbs: up for ease of application and longevity.

In addition, their support & how to YouTube videos are outstanding which by the way includes how to repair.

Reference a close-up of my rim on my photo album "SNM Jim" also feel free to request close ups of your choice...;-)
