Natural Gas/Sulfer smell

I have been getting a smell of natural gas or sulfer coming from the hvac system at random times and went to dealer to deal with this, they told me it would be a diagnostic charge and may not find the problem, took it for an oil change and found the culprit. It was a PTU leaking fluid, ended up replacing the whole unit under powertrain warranty and was given rental car for free since it took longer than a day to fix. Wanted all to know this in case you have this issue. I have a 2013 Edge.

I hope they suspected that from the beginning of you stating what you smelled since there is a bulletin on PTU failure and the customer complaining about natural gas smell in those circumstances.

Another lazy dealer (okay maybe that is a bit harsh)...Here is how I would expect it to go...so you smell an odor of natural gas or sulfur coming from your HVAC system. Well let me look to see if there are any known issues like that. Oh I found something that may apply. We can look at your vehicle and if the known issue exists we will see if your warranty covers it. If it has the issue and the warranty covers it then you will be fine otherwise if the warranty doesn't cover it you will be responsible for the charges. Also if that isn't the issue you will still be liable for the charges.

This was found within 30 seconds of looking up 2013 Edge in OASIS using key word search of NATURAL GAS:
