cool feature: sync lowers fan speed when making a call

Recommended Posts

i just noticed a cool feature that i hadn't noticed before on my 2016 Titanium. I had manually raised the fan speed to the upper range (i usually do this after running the AC to blow out moisture so it doesn't get that funky mildew smell after sitting in the garage) and a few seconds later i started making a call through Sync. The system lowered the fan speed when I made the call and raised it again after I hung up. I would assume that it would do the same thing when receiving a call.

I thought that was very useful.

That's the one thing I didn't like when I was working at the office. Calling home right after leaving work I'd have to manually lower the fan speed (or raise the temperature) in the summer so I could hear the phone. Now I just turn off the laptop and walk upstairs.

I am pretty sure this is on only newer fords, because my 2012 does not do this, but I did notice this in the 2017 F-150 Loaner truck I have. It amazed me even more that this truck didn't have automatic climate control, but the fan speed knob is essentially electronic because when you twist it lights show how high/low the fan speed is on.

Just to confirm; my '11 Limited mutes the sound system when making a call but DOES NOT lower the fan speed. Would be a nice feature tho. I guess I can't complain much - we do get some 100F+ days here in Texas although our average yearly temp is about 77F. The average summer temp in Qatar is 106F with some spikes up to 122F. (Source: USA Today Weather) Yikes!!!
