anyone with OBDII scanner, can you report LTFT, 2012 2.0

The short story is a while back my MPG dropped signiicantly, >20%, at say 65mph. I found the LTFT was almost +20 as I cruised along. I think I found a CEL won't get set till it hits 25. magically adding sea foam to gas tank really helped LTFT and mpg. LTFT dropped to +5. But the LTFT would creep back up after several tanks. I found I could pull the fuel line at the pump, under the hood, empty line and give put a capful of sea foam in line and it has same positive effect on LTFT. I suspect the Fuel pressure sensor is what is being affected by sea foam. I think its supposed to be 2% accurate. I really should just replace it but little nervous pulling intake manifold, although I would love to see how much oil on back of valves. but so easy to just add sea foam.

I Changed Air Filter, O2 sensor.

So my question is, for anyone that is getting good highway mpg, what is your LTFT when cruising, also at idle, mine runs +10 to +15 at idle, what yours.

My STFT seems to mover around, plus and minus.

A positive fuel trim number means the engine is getting more gas than optimum, so a weak fuel pump can't be cause, it would have to be putting out too much pressure, I suspect the fuel pressure senor is out of tolerance.

How hard is intake manifold to remove ? I have not see any youtube videos specific to this 2.0 engine.

by the way, I took it to dealer before warranty was over, with +20 LTFT and they just blew me off , said nothing was wrong with car.

thanks

How many miles on your Edge. The 2.0 is a notoriously "dirty" engine. Needs frequent oil changes to keep up. Also, Ecoboosts have problems with carboning on the back of intake valves as they do not get washed with fuel unlike port fuel injected engines.

May be time to change spark plugs as well, forced induction engines can eat plugs faster than naturally aspirated ones.

Most LTFTs I have seen on EBs are in low single digits when running correctly, often very near zero. These are tightly controlled engines.

Try the Techron Concentrate Plus suggestion. Unfortunately, deposits on GDI fuel injectors are VERY hard to remove with normal cleaners such as this, but other parts of the fuel system as well as the combustion chamber can definitely benefit.

Coking is the term you're looking for ;)

I'll have to look at my LTFT's one of these days. When my wife drives it for any length of time, mpg's go way down.

Go way down

it has 63,000 miles on it, i have run several cans of sea foam and techron along will filling up at chevron station, i think it was the concentrate as it said good for 3000 ? miles as other bottles said less.

I suppose i could have an injector with some sort of issue that it works better for only a short while after sea foam goes thru it,

i run mobil 1 5-30 and change at 7000 miles,

I should pull spark plugs. to see if tips indicate one cylinder different than others.

about time to try and remove intake manifold as well, can look for carbon build up.

i think a vacumm leaks let extra air in and causes negative LTFT as it getting too little fuel, plus a leak that would cause issues at 65mph and not a idle seems unlikely.
