I haven't had this car a week and already going back to the dealer a second time (headlight issue first time. Now the power liftgate function is not working. On YouTube there is a video and ny car is doing the same thing ( however I don't have any cargo in the cargo area or a trailer attached. Here is a link to the video does anybody know could be causing this problem? Thank you in advance.

I seem to remember reading somewhere (may have been in this forum) that a defective pinch strip can cause open ok, but no response to close.

Its under warranty, take it in to the dealer so he can pull codes and fix.

Dealer looked at it today when I picked up my Fusion.........could not duplicate the problem, I hate when this happens. It's been working fine ever since I will keep an eye on it.

Maybe they could use a demo from you.  Sometimes the owner has to be present with the tech in order to truly define the issue at hand.

The car will not store the code it had when not closing?

Good question. Some codes when set are erased on the next startup. This was a major issue with gen 1.5 throttle body failure. In this case, IDK if a] a code is set, and b] if it is retained.

The issue only happens when I am parked in my driveway......the driveway is uneven so the passenger side about 6 inches higher than the drivers side. I guess this is enough to make it not latch.

Possibly believes there is an alignment issue?
