Kind of newbie on Ford Edge 2017_rear light/projector

Recommended Posts

I have a 500ft/160m long driveway and I have to use it running backwards as it is very narrow and I can not turn around. During the night, especially in the winter I would need a better visibility for the rear. What would you recommend and where to put it? I would like LED light. Thanks!

It would take a lot more light to add sufficient visibility.

If it were me, I would pour a turn around pad and not try to back such a long distance. 12ft x 20ft should be sufficient (3.7 x 6 m)

A quick and cheap fix (less desirable however) would be to just add reflectors on stems (about 2ft high). When backing out at night, they should provide sufficient information as to where the edge of the drive is.

Don't expect miracles, but these are pretty damn bright and light up my driveway when backing up:

There's also these: http://www.morimotohid.com/led-lighting/921-t15-morimoto-xb-led.html

Back in the day, Dingo, had some home made (bastardized) HID kit that he put in his reverse lights. They put out a LOT of light. They probably have plug and play kits nowadays for this purpose. The link for his photo demonstrating the light pattern is no longer working (http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10298-added-led-reverse-bulbs-today/page-2)

Having said all that, the lenses for the reverse bulbs are not ideal, so I think Enigma gave you a decent head start as well.

Actually I have a kind of parking plot at the end pf the alley but I also have three cars, mine included. So the issue can not be solved with that idea.
I will search to see if the LED bulbs have the same socket at my car like the one Candurin just showed. It might be a good solution if those bulbs are really so bright.

Thanks!

All Ford Edges (all generations) use 921/T15 wedge bulbs for the reverse lights.
