tamugrad2013 Posted August 20, 2017 Report Share Posted August 20, 2017 This has been ongoing for a while but want to get opinions before I take it to the dealer. When the engine is idling every so often the RPM's will drop from ~800 to Just under 500 and the car shutters a bit. This only seems to be an issue when the AC is on, and it did this with the old compressor and with the new compressor as well. I first noticed this when the brake booster went out and I figured it was from the vacuum leak, but since that has been fixed for over two years and it is still doing it I doubt that. I honestly thought it only happened when stopped in traffic with my foot on the brake, but today I was waiting for someone with my car in park and it did it again. I can't remember exactly when, but I had an injector service done about 40,000 miles ago and it seemed to maybe make this better for about 15,000 miles. I think that I might get the injector service done again, but I am wondering if this may be a throttle body issue. I still have the warranty for another 15,000 miles or April of my estimations on driving and mileage. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Could def be the throttle body, or could be an injector, or a crank position sensor, or ... Injectors do go bad on these GDI engines, so very much in play. And as you also noted, the compressor cycling can affect the RPMs, though should not be THAT drastic. Since injector service helped, I would suspect the injector and/or fuel pump. You had the intank fuel pump replaced once already, right? Try looking at the Mode 06 data/freeze frame data, see if it has something to report. Torque Pro can pull this up for you. But the main point is that a professional would need to scope the car to find the issue. How does it feel overall, would you describe it as perfect but for this issue? Slow startups on the infotainment and a few crashes in the past few weeks and navigation error. Also slow voice commands.
