Harmonic Balancer Replacement

Vapour Trails

Recommended Posts

I plan on replacing the harmonic balancer on my 2011 SEL (3.5L) in the coming days. I have had a squeaking coming from the belt system for over a year now and looking at the balancer as it turns reveals a slight wobble. Since the belts should be replaced I figured I'd do the balancer at the same time and hopefully it will correct the squeak.

Does anyone have any tips for this job?

Secondly, does anyone know the torque specs for the replacement balancer bolt I bought from Ford?

And if anyone can provide advice on how to most easily install the stretch belt, that would be appreciated too.

You are sure it is not the tensioner? How many miles on your Edge? Wasn't aware there was a harmonic balancer on the 3.5L, will have to look again. Sure you are not referring to the crankshaft pulley? EDIT: Dorman does call it a balancer. Ford P/N 8T4Z-6312-A
