2nd Gen OEM Pirelli Scorpion tire questions

had them on my MKX AWD. I drive very aggressively. I had 20k on them when I traded the car. There was still a fair amount of tread left. They're a decent tire not great. My sport is now my winter car exclusively so I'm running Hankook IPike RW11's. These tire are far better IMO than the scorpions. You can get them online from discount tire direct with or without studs. They usually have manufacturer rebates and no shipping cost. They will beat any price I've ever found anywhere. Been using them for over a decade. The Ipike is a little softer compound and wont get you as far as the scorpion.

Hi

I have around 45000 miles on my Scorpions. 5/32 treadware left on them. I will not be replacing them with the same. These tires suck in the winter. I can't believe Ford would put these on an AWD drive vehicle in Canada. In winter, I found the traction control and ABS always kicking in to the point I don't feel safe in the Edge. I ended up getting a winter set of Nokian Hakkas. Night and day difference. I'll be replacing the Scorp's next spring. Not sure which tires yet but leaning toward Michelin LTX. Will be researching this winter.

My 245/50R20 Pirelli Scorpions are down to 3/32" after 43,500 miles in 5 years. Between my wife (primary driver of this car) and myself we are a 3 driving aggressiveness. Dry, warm California climate. I'm shopping for replacements now. Looking at Michelin, Bridgestone and BF Goodrich. Anybody have any experience with any of these? Recommendations for replacements?

I have original 20" scorpions on my 13 Edge at 80000 km (50000 miles). I will be replacing them in the fall with another set of all seasons.

I would say I'm a 3 nearly a 4 driver. Always wanting to get from A to B as quickly as possible. With the exception of extreme deep snow or freezing rain, I am pleased with the tires.

I'm currently running P245-50R20 Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia's on my MKX. Second set I've had on this car, and well satisfied. Quiet, smooth, long life, all-season. Little expensive at $250/tire but they are always offering a rebate. Couple that with Ford's rebate of $50 and it comes down nicely.

One trick to watch out for, are the customer reviews. Most are from people who just bought the tires and have only a couple hundred miles on them. Tirerack.Com is loaded with these reviews. Amazon.com has reviews with several thousand miles on their tires. One particular tire I was certain I was going to replace my last set, had glowing reviews on tirerack.Com. But also checkled Amazon and seen where they have a very short life, as little as 10,000 miles in one cae. (I had also experienced the same thing with a set I had years ago, same brand). Great in the beginning, but hard, loud and rough after 20k miles. Haven't found this with Bridgestone.

BTW, I looked up these tires on tirerack.Com, printed out the page, took it to local Ford dealer, he gave me his spiel on crappy tires for way too much, showed him the printout and mentioned I could have them shipped another local dealer, and he instantly matched to price. Got my Bridgestone rebate and my Ford rebate. Plus the job was done right the first time.
