Anyone added a front view camera to SYNC?

Recommended Posts

My search here didn't turn anything up. I have a 2017 Edge SEL with OE backup camera. My wife has a real difficult time seeing how close the front end is to other parked cars. Is there a way to add a switchable front view camera option using the smaller existing screen but without upgrading to SYNC2?

Thanks

Trade for a new MKX? It works great. Almost impossible to retrofit though.

Thanks. I figured it wouldn't be economically feasible. A Titanium we looked at had the 180* front camera but it also had the pano roof so no deal. She says the Edge feels like she's sitting in a high-top tennis shoe in regards to forward visibility. She'll either get used to it or I'll be buying a lot of fascias!

I might give that a try but unless i mount it to the bumper wherever she goes it won't work. She has come very close to hitting my beer fridge so something has to be done :cry:The odd thing is it's only a few inches longer than the Highlander she drove for years and had no problems with it. Make be I can add a separate front warning sensor to at least give her a beeping sound like my E350 backup sensor. personally I just wish she would learn to drive better.

If it's just in the garage, hang a tennis ball from the ceiling so that it just touches the windshield when she's in far enough. (I use a Chamberlain parking aid that my wife has learned to ignore quite well).

That there is one fancy tennis ball...

Can't confirm nor debate, but, my wife may (or may not) have hit shelves, side of the attic landing, or workbench in our garage.

I always back in...

I’m sure it was somehow your fault.....

We had a laser light that shined down from the ceiling onto the dash. It was tied to the opener sensors. Worked great.

Now that is a great idea, I even have a spare laser I can tie into the opener if voltage matching can be done easily. You might have just saved me a beer fridge door! Our driveway slopes pretty steep and it's almost impossible to see anything on the garage floor while pulling in...well, let's just say my Fluke 89 DVM needs to be replaced with a new 'one piece' model. It's my fault for not moving it more to the side while charging my boat batteries.

As I'm beginning to really laugh about this thread. My wife hits the step to the landing again.

As she backs up, she SOMEHOW knocks over the hacker-pschorr oktoberfest keg I had inside an ice bucket for our fall beer tasting tomorrow...

Instantly this thread is more sad than funny.
