Has anyone seen a Black 'Edge' Emblem?

I hate chrome or anything shiny, so Im looking for a Black 'Edge' Emblem for the rear ...I found a 'Sport' emblem in black but no luck so far with a black Edge emblem. Normally I would remove the emblem and spray it black myself but on my 2017 Sport you have to remove each letter individually and there is not enough surface area on the back of the letters to apply the double stick to re-mount

them....So, Im hoping someone might have a line on an alternative. All suggestion appreciated...

be very careful & use a exacto knife & big slices of painters tape & i use plasti-dip. I've painted many emblems like this with very good results. It's very tedious, but it's a lot better than having the shiny chrome.

with plasti dip you don't need a knife or any fancy prep work. just put some tape around the emblem (maybe an inch away from the letters) and spray your coats of plasti dip. pull the tape after your last coat. when it dries, peel off the remaining plasti dip where you don't want it. a toothpick helps lift the corners of it for easy peeling between letters and such. not tedious at all.

Now that sounds like the answer! I've never used Plasti Dip. So, just to check here, it will peel off without damaging or sticking to the paintwork?

yep. it's great for emblems. it looks okay on wheels, but you can tell its plasti dip on larger surfaces like that. when you peel it off, it almost feels/sounds like a balloon. kind of latex like. does not harm paint or other surfaces. When i first bought my bike i wanted to see what it looked like with blacked out forks/primary cover/ and weels. and then i plasti-dipped the speedometer and emblems in white. i loved the look. kept the plasti dip for almost 2 years before finally peeling off and having emblems/wheels/speedo powdercoated. forks are still dipped to this day (3+ years later)

 

I cannot attest to how difficult it would be to peel off after this extended period of time, but from what i understand, before you attempt to peel, you can spray another coat or 2 on top of your previous work, let it dry, and it makes peeling it a breeze.

 

the tape is harder to peel off than the plasti-dip is. so that tells you how easily it comes off if you change your mind

 

on another note though.. just de-badge that thing with some fishing line and goo gone, buy one of those blackout emblem overlays so no one knows its a ford, then once you have the lms tune, surprise some people down the 1/4 mile and they'll be wondering wtf minivan just dragged their ass

The plasti-dipped emblems on my 2016 sport look as good as the day I did it and almost a year later. And like Mikula said, just apply low tack painters masking tape about an inch away from the lettering, no need for any time consuming X-acto knife trimming. The natural edges of the raised lettering will provide the weak tear areas when peeling off the over spray. In my opinion this is really the only valid use of plasti-dip on a car. Best tip I can give you is don't try using the plasti-dip if it is any cooler than like 70 degrees out or the spray will come out like snot! Get a can of glossifier too and add a few coats at the end to make it look a little more like real paint or black molded plastic, even so, it will still be somewhat matte finished afterwards. I can post a recent pic of my badges if you want to see. Buy some plastic drop sheeting too and wrap the rear of your car in it before taping off the badges to prevent any overspray from getting over the rest of the car, especially if spraying outdoors. Just watch a few youtube videos for techniques. Its pretty simple actually.
