Dealer Question

So I had my 2016 Sport serviced this week at my dealer (this is not my purchasing dealer but my in town dealer, I have 3 Fords and they all go there for service so it is not like I am a stranger). I had the air bag recall done as well as the TSB for the grabby brakes. I have been going around with them on the brake thing as they were reluctant to do it. I finally pleaded my case. They checked it out and the tech immediately said I needed it so they supposedly replaced the booster. Problem is the brakes feel exactly the same to me, still grabby. Is it a bit less grabby? I don't know. So reviewing my paperwork from the service call I see NO reference to the Recall or TSB. Only an oil change and tire rotation.

 

I checked my Ford account and I think there was a reference to the recall last week which is now blank. Is there any way to really tell if they did this stuff? Shouldn't there be a reference on my paperwork? Usually I see some "Customer Requests etc. I have never had any issues with this dealer, always treats me ok. They even kept the car an extra day as they had to order the booster. Should I just forget the whole thing and enjoy my ride. Lots of liability if they did not perform the recall.

Call the service mgr and tell them there is no reference in the paperwork to replacing the brake booster and see what they say.

Exactly...call them out on it.

 

There is no TSB for grabby brakes...it is an SSM. SSM nor TSBs show up on your owner account, only recalls do. If they replaced something it would certainly be indicated on the repair order.

 

SSM 45857 - 2015-2016 Edge And 2016 Lincoln MKX - Overly Sensitive Brake Application At LowSpeed And/Or In Cold/Wet Conditions - Built On Or Before 3/23/2016
Some 2015-2016 Edge and 2016 Lincoln MKX vehicles built on or before 3/23/2016 may exhibit overly sensitive brake applications. This will typically occur at low speed and/or in cold/wet conditions. To correct the condition, install an updated brake booster with part number F2GZ-2005-F (only 2.0L GTDI with 17” rotors)or F2GZ-2005-E (all except 2.0L GTDI with 17” rotors). Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 206-07. For claiming, use causal part 2005 and applicable labor operation(s) in the Service Labor Time Standard (SLTS) Section 2.
