Trans Mount Install (RMM)

GT500R

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share my experience with the I purchased it through the Ford Fusion forum as "darkstar" (guy who sells them) advised they fit the Edge!

Overall - shifts seem a bit more on point with less slop, I don't really feel any vibration at all. I have no wheel hop despite me launching around 2300 rpm, just a bunch of AWD (mostly front) spinning (cold weather with stock tires).
Install was pretty easy with only two bolts to remove, the user manual advises to put the car in Neutral (FYI) and the larger wrench really aided with torque (125 ft. lbs)
This was definitely a better purchase especially once I realized under the car I could move the trans assembly with my hand when not connected ::eek::

seems like a decent upgrade. a little steep on the price for me, as i haven't noticed any wheel hop. did you get a chance to vbox any info before/after install?

I didn't get a chance to unfortunately.

But I'll take spinning over hopping any day as the hop is detrimental on all the drivetrain vs spinning just on the tires.

$165 isn't TOO bad IMO but to each their own.

is there any chance that it could be too rigid?,,,,possibly causing case fracture...does the aftermarket have bushings?

Aftermarket has a bushing - first pic the black circle bushing with the silver inside ring. That is all a really firm rubber, there is still a bit of a give, its not a 100% stiff as that would not be ideal for NVH.

Chris, do you have any more info on how this has worked for you? Did it actually do its job of reducing wheel hop?

Yes, worked well on reducing wheel hop, a lot better then the stock mount. Also helped with some of the slop on the shifting, cruising shifts and full throttle seem a bit more crisp now.
