2008 Edge limited FWD ptu seal leak?????

I have a 2008 Ford edge. It has 135,000 And apparently my axle shaft seal has been leaking and caused my engine mount to go bad or wear out. I was quoted 1400-1500 worse case sinero to replace the engine mount and the leaking seal. I was assured that was a high end number. Is there something I am missing about replacing the seal. It is the passenger side that is leaking. I would like to consider myself a couple clicks about your average Harry homeowner and am mechanically inclined. I have read up on this issue a little. I do apologize if there is numerous threads about this very issue out there. Again this is front wheel drive and not AWD. I and just looking for a little insight. I was also told that the ptu was low on fluid due to this leak. Not to sound ignorant but the ptu is on fwd vehicles as well as the awd's? In my mind I'm thinking of a ptu like a transfer case.

I definitely meant transaxle. The person I was speaking with at the repair shop kept calling it a pto. I was dancing around this in the post. I really haven't gotten under the car and looked at it. But I was just making sure there wasn't anything I was missing. The seal that is leaking is on the passenger side. I believe there is nothing special there. Just a longer shaft or a intermediate shaft. Thank you for responding.

I was just wondering how much of an pain the intermediate shaft is to remove. Also if that intermediate shaft pops out of the transaxle like a axle shaft pops out of the transaxle. Any videos I have found online are replacing the drivers side. And was wondering if anyone has removed it before. If I need to get any special tools
