New owner and a few questions!

Hi all,

I've just purchased a used 2017 Edge Titanium 2.0l fwd with sunroof, remote start and navigation. I bought it used for 25.500 usd with 14k miles on it.

Still under warranty and I will post some photos soon.

I would like to buy a ford extended warranty. I will be driving around 15k a year. I was looking for the Ford premiumcare but I couldn't find the exclusions and I am not a car guy, I don't have knowledge on what parts are likely to fsil prematurely etc. What would be your suggestions?

I am based in Ardmore PA. For those of you living in the neighborhood, do you have a good mechanic or ford dealer that I can take it for maintenance and problems?

Also if anybody knows any good detailing shop around Philadelphia/ardmore? A google search judt takes you to whoever pays more on advertisement and not to real results anymore.

I am very excited about the car and hope to have a good experience with it.

Cheers!

Do you think it is wiser to keep cash around 1500 for future repairs? I know warranty is a gamble and house wins overall. I am just scared with all electronics in the car and something comes up for thousands. I havent used a car in the last 5 years and a lot has changed.

If you have the $1500 now but may not be able to pay for a large repair later then it makes sense. If you can cover a large repair then it comes down to whether you want to gamble on this specific vehicle or not. On one vehicle it's always a gamble. Over the long term on multiple vehicles the odds are in your favor to self-insure.

I will say I brought my premium care warranty when I brought my 2012 in 2013 because I was not financially smart at the time, but I also got lucky with it paying for itself two fold. That being said I will never buy one again, and do not plan on buying another car unless I have cash on hand to buy it with.

And just an additional note mine is the first year the Ecoboost was offered on the Edge and I feel it was a really early build considering it was sold to it's original owner on November of 2011.

I have found the PremiumCare warranty well worth it for peace of mind, but then I bought a higher mileage vehicle also. Ford factory warranty is 3/36 b2b w a few exclusions, and 5/60 for powertrain. You would run out of any warranty in about 2 years. How long do you expect to keep the vehicle? Are you committed to maintenance? If you see any issues with electronics in the next few months, put them on record, and hopefully get them resolved. Yes, they can cost a bundle to fix. But there were many more issues in the 2011 MY (when the Edge really went electronics heavy) than the 2015+ MY. I would wait till the b2b is almost up then reevaluate. If you still feel uncomfortable without warranty, buy it! An online Ford dealer can get you great pricing, PLUS your local dealer may match. Lombard, Flood, Anderson Koch, Ziegler to name a few.
