2017 vs 2018

Recommended Posts

Shopping around for a new Edge SEL with the V6. From my understanding the V6 model does not have the auto stop/start feature and it's not a direct injected engine and both of those are things I want. Are there any differences between a 2017 and 2018? My local deal has not received any 2018 Edge's yet, they still have a few 2017's on the lot. The SEL's with the V6 they have all have leather interior which is something I really wasn't wanting but don't mind it either if I can get a good deal. Should I be able to get a better deal on a 2017 compared to a 2018 if they are both equipped the same? Seems like there are more rebates on the 2018 models.

Here is the current pricing they have listed online at the dealer.

MSRP Before Discount $38,805

Package Savings - $600

MSRP $38,205

Bonus Customer Cash - $1,000

Customer Cash - $2,000

Dealer Savings - $2,705

With Available Savings $32,500

There are few more rebates but not sure if I will qualify for them. Looks like I might qualify for the $1,000 off if I finance through Ford and they have 0% interest up to 72 months if I'm reading it right. I'd like to get this Edge as far under 30K as possible before TT&L. What do you guys think?

Well we will be heading to the local dealer to view a couple of their 2017 models and see if we can come to a deal on one. I came across a good deal on a 2018 but it is about 300 miles away from me so how much of a discount would you guys consider to be great to get you to purchase a 2017 if both are equipped the same?

If both are brand new with no miles i always go with the previous model year. My logic is always in the resale. some people only do simple math. for instance, oh its a 2016 with 20k or a 2017 with 20k. one might consider it high mileage for the year, while the other is low mileage for the year. (even though the length of ownership may be the same)

If there isn't any updates to a model that are a "must have" then that is the logic I used. I bought my 2016 brand new at the end of June 2017. So on paper, a 2016 edge with 8500 miles seems like i don't drive it much!
