enigmakv Posted February 6, 2018 Report Share Posted February 6, 2018 I have a 2013 Edge Limited and it is time for new tires. The vehicle has the 18 Chrome Clad Wheels P245/60R18 tires. I live in the desert and drive mostly in Arizona and California. 85% dry highway/city driving. NO off-road. I am seeking recommendations for the BEST SMOOTHEST-ride tires I can get. The biggest bang for the buck is that these tires are V rated and last 60k. macbwt Posted March 14, 2018 Report Share Posted March 14, 2018 Ran both the Ecopia and now the Michelin Premier LTX. Hands down I will go with the Michelin Premier LTX over the bridgestones. I love Michelins but I could not pass up the deal at Costco on the Bridgestones and I was not disappointed. Michelins were close to $1000 out the door and I got the Bridgestone for $650. That is retirement fund worthy savings for me. I agree the Michelins are probably best but I could not justify that amount of difference for the minor performance gain. I would think the heat may shorten the life. Also what factory tires are you replacing? Once the soft rubber wears down they are too noisy for me. We got about 43k miles out of them. They would have lasted longer. No issues with wet or dry traction. . enigma-2 Posted March 24, 2018 Report Share Posted March 24, 2018 I've also had problems with Michelin's after 20k. They're great when new, but get loud and hard around 19.5 - 21k. Gave up.on them years ago. I now on my 2nd set of Bridgestones with this MKX and feel its an excellent tire. They were still outside 3/32" tread and were JUST approaching the need to be replaced. I didn't note the brand/type of those originals but I'm pretty sure they were Michelins. Costco was having a sale. I went with Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alena Plus tires. Got all four installed for $705. Had them installed yesterday and am extremely satisfied with the customer service at Costco. Also, the ride is smooth and quiet. FINALLY.
