Keyless Entry Stopped Working - 2011 Edge SEL

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a nice 2011 Edge SEL Saturday; it is equipped with Ford Remote Start.

The keyless Entry has stopped working.

It worked at the dealership until we used the Remote Start . . . then the keys stopped working.

We can lock/unlock manually and start the engine manually, Remote Start still works, but we cannot lock, unlock or activate panic button with the keys.

Both keys stopped working at the same time and the is no click or lights flash or anything . . . we replaced the battery in one when we got home, but it didn't make any difference.

Thank you for your time and assistance . . . Big D-

Are you referring to your IKT fob isn't working or the numerical keyless entry pad on the door isn't working? Your post alludes to the fact your talking about the fob.

If you just purchased the car, have the dealer take care of it. May just be a simpl reprogramming of the fob is in order.

Does the key itself work?

Yes, it is the key that is not working, but it still manually unlocks the door and starts the car . . . sorry I don't know all the proper terminologies.

There is no fob per say, the buttons are on the keys.

I was just hoping someone here had a fix to save us a trip back to the dealer. Thanks

IKT = Integrated Keyhead Transmitter - That's the key with the integrated fob/buttons on top.

If your key works (you can use it to open the door and start the car), try this to reprogram the buttons on the key:

1. Close all doors, then open drivers door and press the Unlock button on drivers door while it is open, insert key into ignition.

2. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 8 seconds, with the 8th time ending in RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode. (if the door locks do not cycle, then it was done incorrectly. You must start over by removing key and beginning from step 1)

(Off is the position where you can remove your key, RUN is the position just shy of starting your car.)

3. Within 10 seconds press any button on the first keyless remote to be programmed. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. If you only have one remote then skip to step 5.

4. Within 10 seconds, press any button on the second keyless remote. Door locks will cycle again to confirm programming. Repeat step 4. for all other remotes.

5. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

  • 2 years later...

We just recently are having the same problem as described above on our 2011 Edge.  Both keys all of sudden won't unlock/lock doors remotely.  We do have an aftermarket remote starter on the car, but that was installed over a year ago with no issues until now.  We tried replacing batteries and reprogramming and still no luck.  Thoughts??
