Hood deflector

Recommended Posts

Not sure if you're going for looks or just paint chip protection but the clear protective film they use nowadays is pretty amazing stuff. A lot of tint shops install the stuff and you can't even see its there. I think its a 3m scotchguard product. Not sure if that helps you out at all

Lund International (AVS) makes one called a Carflector. Its more of a traditional acrylic hood deflector and they do make one for the Gen II Edge, but couldn't find any pics of it on one. This is probably your best bet. I would also suggest picking up a bottle of touch-up paint, especially with black colored paint. It is pretty good for hiding small knicks if used correctly. Here's a link to Lund:

I have the Lund Carflector on my black LTD and really like it. It color matches pretty well and looks great (but I am biased.) And I can tell when it has deflected something up and over the car. The Edge LTD does look great in black and I get comments on it but you do have to keep it clean. Tuxedo Black shows dirt quickly after a wash and does require diligent upkeep. But after a wash and wax, it looks gooooooood.

More for protection as I do a lot of highway driving. Noticed already a couple stone chips on my hood. Grrrrr!

Then I'd definitely go with the clear film and do as much of the front end as you can. I really wish I would have done this to my 2011 when I got it. Funny thing is, there's no chips where a bug deflector would have protected the hood but the rest of the front end looks like it got sandblasted. I was smart enough to put a clear film on the headlights.
