I have a 2011 Edge SEL and the sunroof motor that controls the glass is failing and is sluggish when i attempt to close the glass. The motor works fine while opening the glass but when i go to close the glass its having a hard time pushing it to close, the motor seems like its facing resistance. It's at the point now that i have to manually help it along.

Is this just a simple grease the rails problem or is do i need to replace the motor. I've spayed the rails with WD40 but didn't do much to help the glass close smoother, possibly need a better grease or lubricant.

Thoroughly cleaning will definitely help.

You can also change the rear roof "legs" if yours are really bad:
