Oil Analysis Results

I was wondering if anyone else has seen their engines shear the oil down to a relatively thin viscosity? Blackstone commented that the viscosity is lower then expected for 5W/30 and some engines have a natural tendency to shear the oil with use. I have attached the oil sample report and was curious if others have seen this trend? Other then that with ~17,000 miles I think it's looking pretty good.

I'd ask are you sure it is 5w30? My dealer (the only authorized dealer in the country I live in) was about to use 5w20 oil in my Edge Sport. Even though it had 5w30 written on the oil fill cap, the dealer's Technicians are used to using 5w20 on majority of cars they get.

Can you ask Blackstone if the measured viscosity would more in line with 5w20? If yes then that is probably your issue.

you say same oil PUP 5-30 was used for last oil change. interesting variation in additive #s as they are not the same - moly boron etc. Possibly a reformulation, as many mfrs did so late 3rd/4th quarter of 2017.

it took you a year to run 7000 miles, what kind of driving do you do? how many engine hours was this, if you know off the top of your head? Might qualify for severe duty/special operating conditions. i would not exceed a 5,000 mile interval in this case. Wear does look good for an ecoboost tho.

It's the Wife's car. Her trips include runs to the grocery store in town (10 miles round trip) once a week, then to the supermarket (30 miles round trip) call it once a week but may be slightly less. Then a 500 mile round trip maybe once every 3 month or so.... It is less than an ideal mix of driving so I'll keep it a little shorter on the intervals.
