Upside down rear camera display

Recommended Posts

I have a new 2011 Edge and twice now when I have put the vehicle in reverse the camera display is upside down and without the guiding green, yellow, and red lines. Has anyone else experienced this yet? Again it has only happened twice in about 3 weeks time, but it still concerns me. I believe both times that it happened was in the morning on my way to work after the car had been sitting for 8 plus hours.

Update your sync software. Camera has had several fixes since I got my edge 6 mo ago

UPDATE:

The guidelines are turned on/off via the touch menu.

also...

Since I updated to ver 2.7, I've noticed that the camera has a wider angle of view. It now shows a portion of the license tag.

If you're still having this issue, check out the attached TSB.

2011 Lincoln MKS owner. I know this thread is old, but I'm having the same problems. After the MFT upgrade in the summer of 2015, I lost the guide lines and proximity markings on the rear camera. About 3 months ago, I first got a blank screen with the contact dealer message. That would pop up every now and then. In the last month, the image has gone upside down. I saw that there was a TSB that extended the warranty on the APIM for 5 years on the MKX and 4 years on the Edge, so I took it to my dealer yesterday. After sitting there for 2 1/2 hours they told me that the APIM was fine and it is the camera that's bad. Quoted me $458 dollars to fix! I said no thanks. I took me less than 10 minutes to remove the liftgate panel, take out the 1 mounting screw and remove the camera. I unseated the wiring harness and reattached it to see if that would maybe help...it did not. I re-installed the camera and put the liftgate cover back and ordered a new camera from a dealer for $128.

I still have my doubts that this is a camera issue, as everything seems to point to a software issue inside the APIM, so I'll see what happens after I replace the camera.

There is only one way to mount the camera, so that would not work.

It was a joke... I suppose I'll need to add the "/sarcasm" in future posts where I laugh at my own responses...

If you replaced your camera, other members have indicated that you'll need your dealer to reset and initialize the new camera before the zoom and guidelines will function properly on the replacement.

I've got a 2011 Edge Limited. I need to replace the lift gate back up camera. I've removed the assembly that contains the camera, but I will be dog gone if I figure out how the camera unit actually comes out. There is a plastic tab that appears to e attached to a swivel arm that olds the camera in place. How do I move that swivel arm or tab to take out the camera?

My camera works but is now showing an upside down image and the quality seems a little off.  My guess is that it's probably due for updates.

The same thing happened on my 2011 MKX. There was no other choice than to have it replaced at the dealer…
