automatically close windows and sunroof

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there is a way to auto close the windows and sunroof when locking or exiting the car? My volkswagen had a cool feature, when you turn the door key in the opposite direction, all doors and windows will close and lock.

Can this been done with the key fob or keypad?

thanks.

I don't know of an included function to do that. Problem is with the roof, it doesn't even close the last 6 inches without you holding it. I think it might have to do with sensing an obstruction. If the car is moving fast, there can be enough wind resistance to make the car think there is an obstruction. And maybe they couldn't come up with an elegant solution that was cheap enough to cover both situations.

If you were to get an aftermarket alarm to control those functions, it would have to be smart enough to deal with the way the roof opens and closes.

If you wanted it to do just the windows, that would be easy enough. A couple DEI window modules will handle that. They will also give the windows, on which they are installed, the auto up / auto down feature. Each module can control a pair of windows and will require a separate output channel on the alarm. Of course, you would need an alarm with controllable outputs.

My Viper alarm is set up to open/close all windows ans sunroof... A bit pricey but it's a nice feature. Also have tha app for my iPhone.

I have a 2010 Edge and the Viper 5701 alarm with two window kits for the side windows.

I would love to know how they did the sunroof? How did they bypass the "hold the button for the last 6 inches" issue?
