cosmetic flaws

I washed my 6 day old car this weekend and I found some cosmetic flaws on the edge. I'm not sure if I should bring these up to the dealer or not, since they are minor. But on the other hand they bother me, I really pay attention to detail and I'm a person who is out in the driveway every weekend washing the car. Besides, I did just spend a nice lump of money on it.

1st, the drivers side taillight has scuffs or smudges on it. I noticed that the night we picked it up, but I thought it might be armour-all or something greasy on it. It won't wash off, infact you can't even feel it, it's on the inside of the lense. 2nd, one of the crome clad rims has a chip in it. It's near a lug nut. Looks to me like it was damaged when the wheels were put on. Even though it is small this really makes me nervous, since I don't know how well these plastic rims will wear anyway. Lastly the paint has quite a few imperfections including a paint run down the side of the fuel tank opening.

So anyway, I never bought new before and I don't know how the dealer will react when I bring these to his attention. Or are they even worth bringing up to the dealer. Will I just be wasting my time going to ford with these things?

Just wanted to add... I don't want it to sound like I am unhappy with the car. I am in love with it.....and that is why these minor imperfections bother me.

The evening I bought my Edge the dealer told me that he usually does a walk around to check the vehicle but since it was dark that he told me to do it the next day and if I saw anything to let him know. He even followed up with a phone call a few days later to make sure everything was alright, and I didn't find anything and I was happy.

With that, I would call the dealer and tell him when you washed the car you noticed these things and see what he says.

I felt very confident that if there way anything wrong with my car that the dealer would have fixed it, so I am hoping that you will find the same with your dealer.

In my experience, having them replace the lense or a cover isn't a big deal at all.

On the other hand, I don't think that they like to repaint sections on a new car - but they really don't have a choice if it's something you desire. But, can they repaint that section without it being noticeable is another matter.

Alright, just got back from Ford, and they ordered me a new tail light and a new rim. I was so happy when they said they would order the rim (I thought they might try touching it up) that I didn't even tell them about the paint. I decided I can live with the paint.

I am satisfied.

Congratulations! I love good customer service!
