Lost keypad entry code

Recommended Posts

The owner guide says: "The keypad can be operated with the factory set 5-digit entry code; this code is located on the owner’s wallet card in the glove box and is available from your authorized dealer." Well, I don't have this wallet card being referred to. Is there any way to retrieve this 5-digit entry code???

Bumping this thread because my wife has just bought a used (ex rental) 2013 Edge Limited and the card with the Factory keyless entry code is missing. I see on this thread that, in past years, the code was on a sticker on the fuse box. I have read elswhere that this is no longer true for the 13's. Can anyone confirm if and where the code is physically located in a 2013 model?

Thanks

I finally found my code, in the fuse box area, but you have to be a real contortionist to get at it and view. It was located way up near the top on the right hand side of the panel. It took a few tries to get it to work, I tried it initially via MFT but found it just easier to do on the key pad itself.

Brings me back to the days of my used 98 explorer with no keypad code. After removing plastic panel in cargo area and using a retractable little mirror to reach all the way back to the wheel well, I was able to read off one number at a time. They literally don't want you to find that number.

This should be a pass the kindness on type thing!! If you trade your car in give them the darn card that has the number!

On the 16s a simple engine start/shut off with both fobs, one at a time inside the center console will cause the sync 3 screen to display the factory code. At least ford has realized what a pain getting a used car is to use this feature

So I found my code and during setup I chose the wrong pill and erased the factory code instead of adding. Am I off to the dealer or is there a work around?

Its impossible to erase the factory code or ever reprogram the factory code, you can only add codes. If you have myford touch then it's in your setup menu. If you don't and have basic sync, it's up under the dash where your left foot sits when your driving.

First, this is a forum forum for the Ford Edge, not Fusion.

2nd, if retrieving the code was very easy, then your vehicle would become easily accessible by anyone who had it for a brief drive. Like a valet or car wash.

3rd, you can always go to a dealer who can get easily.

4th, you can use ForScan to retrieve it.

Yes, Yes it is... I relized this I was signing up, when I Googled it I somehow clicked on the Edge Forum... So I went to the Fusion Forum and they don't have a post for this issue...

I also understand if it was easy it would be great right now, but not so much when someone else van also changes it... then we would be complaining that it's to easy for others...

With that note I know why my car didn't come with its little wallet card... I bought it used after being a rental car... Not something you want renters to access either... I'm sorry for the interruption in your forum, this is definitely a post queation that will be forever asked and discussed...

in my 2020 Edge, there are instructions for showing the code on the display. i think there may be similar instructions in your owner's guide as well. i seem to recall similar instructions on my '09 and '16. you don't mention your model year.

2019 FORD EDGE Code Cannot  be read by Dealer W/Computer have to get code from RAP Module.

Displaying the Factory-Set Code:

Note:You need to have two programmed intelligent access keys for this procedure.

1. Open the floor console storage compartment lid.

2. With the buttons facing the rear of your vehicle and the key ring up,  place the first intelligent access key into the backup slot inside the center console.

3. Press the  START/STOP button once and wait a few seconds.

4. Press the  START/STOP button again and remove the key.

5. Insert the second programmed key into the backup slot,  then press the START/STOP button.

The factory-set code appears in the information display for a few seconds.

Note:The code may not display until after any other warning messages first display.
