  1. I replaced the battery. Problem solved. Apparently, the battery was weakening but would still start the car. But the low voltage affects the radio. If you drive it for a while to "top-off" the battery, a restart temporarily fixes it. With Covid, the battery wasn't holding a charge if the car sat for a couple weeks. It's been 6 months with a new battery. no issues.
  2. Dutchman... did you ever get your radio fixed? I have a similar problem with my 2014 Edge Limited Sony radio w/ Nav. Sometimes I can only get a couple nearby stations. Sometimes I get no sound at all. It's not the antenna, because it will "play" my USB songs... The song details change every few minutes... but no sound from the USB either. The touch screen works fine. Yesterday, I drove it for an hour and a half - no sound. Shut it off to get gas. Restarted, and it worked fine. It almost has to be the radio or an amplifier. Out-of-warranty. I hate to take it to the dealer... I really hate the dealers. I'd love to have a clue as to what it might be, before going down that rabbit hole.
  3. I had the same or a similar problem with my 2014 Edge Limited with Sony Radio. Everything seems to work, but no audio. Stations change, Bluetooth calls connect, but no microphone or speaker. It reset itself, after it was shut-off, and started again a few hours later. It's only happened once, today.... so far. I've been searching for information, and there have been several people with the same problem, but no one seems to have posted the fix.
  4. It's been a month since I changed out the wiper switch. No issues.
  5. It's only been 10 days. So far so good. No phantom wipes.
  6. I just started having the same problem with the Sony in my 2014 Edge. Twice so far. The sync voice and navigation sound is OK. No sound from the radio or USB music. The volume level indicator on the touch screen goes up and down with the volume control.
  7. I didn't listen to the sound files. But, I had a bad strut mounting bearing on my 2014 Edge. Front right side. The coil spring rotates with the knuckle. This thrust bearing allows the spring to rotate freely. The bearing is on top of the coil spring. I have about 40,000 miles. As enigma suggested for consideration, I replaced both strut/spring assemblies. So much easier than disassembling. The way I diagnosed the thrust bearing is to reach above the tire and rest your fingers on the spring. Don't reach into the spring or grab the spring.... just rest your hand on it. With the car in park, have someone turn the steering wheel. If it jumps or vibrates as it is rotating... you have a bad bearing. For comparison, try the same thing on the other side. There should be a dramatic difference between the good and bad sides.
  8. It's never going to warm up in Michigan. So, I changed the switch yesterday. It took about 15 minutes. There is at least one YouTube video. Pull the steering wheel tilt release lever down. Swing the steering wheel up, but leave the lever down. There are 3x 7mm screws to remove on the steering column cover. The lever covered one of them. Separate the upper and lower covers. I used a plastic pry tool. Pull the steering wheel down, and turn the steering wheel to the right a quarter turn. Lift the upper cover up. This should give you easy access to remove the 2x T10 torx screws holding the switch. Then the switch may be easily slid out towards the right, or towards the passenger door. Reverse steps for assembly. The new switch works fine. Time will tell if it fixes the intermittent on problem.

  10. I have a 2014 Edge Limited The wipers will turn on intermittent at random times. I decided to try and replace the switch. I got mine from RockAuto for $24.78 delivered. Motorcraft SW7688 DB5Z17A553AB. There were two different switches available. Mine switch is the basic delay wiper. I believe the other one was for rain sensing wipers. I think there are different part numbers for earlier year Edge/MKXs, so look carefully. The fact that these switches are so available, is generally a sign that Ford has had a major issue with their switches. And leads me to believe that this is the answer to my problem. I'll change the switch after Christmas. I'll let you know how it goes.
