edjunior started following 2016 Titanium Cupholders
-
Well, I've had this car for about a month and a half now. Overall, I am happy with it. But one thing I have come to really not like is, the cupholders. Especially the rear cupholders. They are shallow and don't seem to hold anything in them. We use them for "refills" for our water up front, especially on longer trips. The cupholders won't even hold a standard crappy plastic water bottle, much less a cup from a fast food restaurant. So, I am looking for solutions. I've got a couple of "inserts" saved to my cart in Amazon, but I wanted to check here and see what everyone else is using or doing (if modding the cupholders instead). The fronts are okay, but even they don't work very well for some of the cups we happen to use. So enough rambling. I would appreciate any ideas.

Welcome! As a few months owner of a 2019 SEL (with additions of Group 201a with premium audio, dual message displays in cluster, heated front seats, LED Signature lighting...and Co-Pilot360 Assist+ with adaptive cruise,...and convenience package with remote start), I understand. I came from a low optioned 2017 Escape, and found a well equipped SEL to replace it. It took some time to get used to the Adaptive Cruise. First thing I did was update SYNC 3 to 3.4 (the newer darker UI), make sure I had the door code. I still have to learn why frequently it starts up with drivers seat heat on (it was nice for about 2 weeks, but it is already 85 degrees where I live). Know what standard features you have, what options, and read up in the owners manual, I get the PDF and do it on my computer. I also had to ask about a few things here, lots of experience and access to advanced documents by quite a few here.

I verified my warranty is 5 years or 60k. I'm in SC until Sunday. Interesting, that I called the local Ford dealer here and they never returned my call. Oh well, I'll check with my local dealer back in MI. Poking around, I removed the air filter assy. as this info seems to suggest I have a trans filler cap. I at least wanted to check the fluid level, but mine doesn't have one. https://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerManual/Home/Content?variantid=4734&languageCode=en&countryCode=USA&Uid=G1676283&ProcUid=G1713844&userMarket=usa&div=f&vFilteringEnabled=False&buildtype=web Thank you all for your help. Really love this ST so hoping I can get this resolved for long term ownership.

Parking brake yellow and red lights and beeping on constantly
dabangsta replied to momel's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
As part of the paid diagnostic did they provide any codes it set? I think it is a common failure, rarely an actual wiring issue, most of the time the wiring harness and the connector on the parking brake motor corrode. There is nothing that requires any dealer level tools or programming to replace them.- 1 reply

Parking brake yellow and red lights and beeping on constantly
momel posted a topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Hi all, all of a sudden my parking brake yellow light, the red flashing light and the beeping alarm came on. That was 2 weeks ago. I took it straight to the dealer who told me I needed the passenger rear motore and cable new because of corrosion. I never use this brake so puzzled as to why. That's one. The other....I had an appointment today to fix said problem, waited for two solid hours to have it fixed only to have a guy come out (this is a dealership) and tell me what was wrong and how much it will be. I knew that 2 weeks ago!!!! They quote me $650 to do this and my NEXT appointment on Monday. By then I will have driven with lights on and the beeping for over three weeks. Can this only be done by a dealership? Is this price to much? Do I question the validity of needing a whole new motor? (the customer service is another question not belonging in here...ugh) Thank you in advance for any input or advice you may have. Below are the parts numbers that I had them give me before I left today. dg9z-2b712-a $249.04 h2gz-14a411-b $47.33 rest is labor... "- 1 reply

TSB 23-2049 - 2019-2023 Edge/Nautilus - 2.7L EcoBoost - Cold Start Ticking/Tapping Or Rattle Type Noise
Davidoo replied to Haz's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Thanks Haz. I have a 22ST with the 2.7 and posted this question below when this was initially published by you in December. I still hear a fast clicking/tapping noise from my engine, but it isn't limited to when it first starts as it always does it......here is what I wrote below..... I have a 22 ST with the 2.7. I don't necessarily hear this tapping or rattle noise on start up, but I do think that the engine is a bit noisy when you are outside the vehicle with it running and standing in front of it. It does seem to make a constant fast clicking noise all the time on mine. I attributed this to fuel injection or something else "normal" as it runs smoothly to me. It doesn't make any different noise the first 5 seconds than it does all the time. I also wonder what the problem is if it only does it, as reported, for 2 to 5 seconds after it starts, is there really a problem? Is it harming the engine? -

'17 Edge Sport - Rear Suspension Hops Sideways On Bumps
Sunnyorlando replied to Sunnyorlando's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Thanks Bofus.. Both shocks replaced by me - its a simple job as you may know, and I am quite experienced in mechanics. They are not OEM, but they are Monroe (37378) spec'd to OEM (probably makes the ford OEM as the look almost identical) for the sport model. I didn't got with FoMoCo/Motorcraft because well, at 70k mi they were done and had been for a while from what I can tell. So I thought Id try something else. Although is possible that the new shocks could be bad, having the exact same issue on the same side probably rules out the shocks. The parts reused from the old shocks are the boot and the stopper rubber at the top which looked in perfect condition. I did a visual inspection of the bushings, sway bar mounts and related wearable parts - all looked good an nothing out of place. As to a restriction/binding, yep, thats possible right? But I did not have a way to test that movement. I may have to take it in to a shop for a full inspection. I was looking to see if this was a familiar issue with this model. And I agree, it does fell like a bad shock - but what are the chances of the same issue on the same side with new ones? -

bofus replied to Sunnyorlando's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Did you replace the shocks yourself? Are they OEM? I assume you moved all the parts (rubber bump stops and such) from the old onto the new? The new ones don't come with all the bits or new dust shields and such. I had a blown shock that eventually seized up and would not move any longer. Hitting any small imperfection in the road would transfer right to my spine. I replaced with Ford OEM parts on both sides. Assuming that is all correct, it SOUNDS like something in the rear suspension must be binding and not freely moving through the suspension travel. I assume all the bushings are ok and the sway bar mount points are solid? Maybe you got back shocks when you replaced them? It certainly sounds like the typical "worn shocks" behavior as something in the rear isn't being controlled/dampened. -

2011 Ford Edge Door Sensor Button inside the latch - Where is it?
CMOS posted a topic in Exterior & Body
I'm finally going to do something about the 'door ajar' warning on my passenger front door. I've watched a large number of videos about disassembling the door to replace the sensor, or cleaning it with contact cleaner and lube. My question is, in relation to the latch opening, and the hook that rotates inside, where is that sensor exactly? Is it below the rotating hook, above it or behind it? I might as well aim the cleaner and lube at that small red button as opposed to drowning the opening (which worked for the driver side that began to have the same issue, but hasn't worked on the passenger side). -

APIM Network Input Messages Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose Heated seat request HVAC Module The HVAC module provides this message to the APIM for the purpose of updating the displayed status of the heated seat buttons on the touchscreen. System Diagram - Climate Controlled Seats Network Message Chart - Climate Controlled Seats SCME Network Input Messages Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose Climate control requests APIM The climate control requests message contains the climate controlled seat request information. Heated Seat Operation The driver and passenger heated seat buttons are selected from the touchscreen. The heated seat system functions independently of the vehicle's climate control system. Each time the heated seat button is pressed, the system decreases one setting (the sequence is high, med, low, off, high, etc.). When activated, the HVAC module supplies voltage to the selected seat heater circuit. Each seat cushion heater mat and backrest heater mat is connected in a series circuit to the HVAC module and powered by the output circuit for that seat. The HVAC module monitors inputs from a temperature sensor located in each seat cushion heater mat, and maintains seat temperature by cycling the heater circuits on/off. The heated seat remains ON until the heated seat switch button is pressed to cycle the system OFF or the ignition is set to OFF. If a fault is detected by the HVAC module, the module stops supplying voltage to that individual left or right seat that the fault was detected on until the ignition is turned OFF and then ON. Climate Controlled Seat Operation The driver and passenger climate controlled seat buttons are selected from the touchscreen. The climate controlled seat system functions independently from the vehicle's climate control system. The seat cushion and backrest are each equipped with a blower motor assembly. As cabin air is drawn through each blower motor, a Thermo-Electric Device (TED) heats or cools the air, which is then directed into the foam pad where it is distributed along the surface of the cushion and backrest of the seat. Once the system is activated, the SCME uses a set of flexible algorithms to control the heating/cooling modes and the blower speed dependant on the commanded climate controlled seat settings. The SCME monitors seat cushion temperature while it supplies voltage and ground to both blower motors. The SCME also supplies a variable voltage signal to control the blower speed. Cabin air enters the blower through an integrated filter attached to the blower motor housing. Heated or cooled air exits the blower motor and flows through the foam pad. Climate Controlled Seat Heating Characteristics The system control settings are indicated next to each climate controlled seat heat switch button. The first setting is HIGH (3 indicators), the second setting is MED (2 indicators) and the third is LOW (1 indicator) then OFF (no indicators). When heating, the SCME varies the speed of the blower motors and the duty cycle of the integral Thermo-Electric Device (TED) in order to reach and maintain the desired temperature determined by the system control settings. Climate Controlled Seat Cooling Characteristics The system control settings are based on the 3 indicators next to each climate controlled seat cool switch button. The first setting is HIGH (3 indicators), the second setting is MED (2 indicators) and the third is LOW (1 indicator) then OFF (no indicators). When cooling, the SCME maintains a constant blower motor speed and a constant Thermo-Electric Device (TED) supply voltage (duty cycle is determined by the switch setting) in COOL mode. Climate Controlled Seat Recovery Mode NOTE: The presence of overtemperature faults (Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) B1153:4B, B1154:4B, B1151:4B and B1152:4B) can be induced by incorrectly operating the climate controlled seat system after an initial heat setting has been attained. If a heat setting is repeatedly turned off and on in an attempt to increase the seat temperature or repeatedly toggled between heat and cool modes, an overtemperature condition can result and the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) may be set. If the temperature of one of the blower motors rises above 110° C (229.8° F) in the heat mode or 65° C (149° F) in the cool mode for more than 4 seconds, the SCME records an overtemperature DTC , removes voltage from the Thermo-Electric Devices (TEDs) (part of the blower motor assembly) and goes into recovery mode (blower only) for 30 seconds to cool down the blower motor. The same occurs if a temperature difference of 60° C (140° F) or greater is detected between the backrest and cushion blower motors on either front seat. The SCME continues to monitor the blower motors while in recovery mode. If the temperature of the Thermo-Electric Devices (TEDs) do not drop to 105° C (220.8° F) in the heat mode or 60° C (140° F) in the cool mode after 30 seconds, the system continues to cool the blower motors in recovery mode for up to 5 minutes. If the Thermo-Electric Devices (TEDs) cool down after 30 seconds, but before 5 minutes (checked at 4 second intervals), the system is operating normally. An overtemperature DTC is still recorded even if the system recovers and is operating normally. This is more likely to occur during extreme cabin temperatures with significant seat back sun load. If the system does not recover within 30 seconds in heat mode or within 5 minutes in cool mode, the SCME disables that seat (fault mode) and remains off until the ignition is cycled. Also, if the SCME detects a temperature differential fault twice during the same ignition cycle, the SCME disables the seat. When a fault causes a shutdown, the climate controlled seat indicators turn off and that seat is not operational until the next ignition cycle. Remote Start Climate Operation Different climate control modes/preferences can be selected when the vehicle is started using the remote start feature. This can be accessed through the message center. For additional information on how to set the remote start preferences, refer to the Owner's Literature. When the driver seat and/or passenger seat is set to AUTO mode, the driver/passenger heated/climate controlled seat activates in full heat mode when the outside temperature is less than 0° C (32° F) and full cool mode (climate controlled seats only) when outside temperature is greater than 27° C (80° F) any time the vehicle is started using the remote start feature. No heated/climate controlled seat adjustments are recognized during remote start operation. Once the ignition is cycled ON, the heated/climate controlled seat turns off. System Diagram - Heated Steering Wheel Network Message Chart - Heated Steering Wheel HSWM Network Input Messages Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose Engine power status PCM This message indicates to the HSWM whether the engine is running. Ignition status BCM Indicates which ignition mode is active. Steering wheel heat request FCIM Message is used to activate the heated steering wheel function when the touchscreen button is pressed on the FDIM , or when the conditions are met to activate the heated steering wheel (and heated seats) during a remote start. FCIM Module Network Input Messages Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose Heated steering wheel command status APIM This message informs the FCIM that the heated steering wheel touchscreen button was pressed on the FDIM . Ambient exterior temperature data IPC This message is used by the FCIM when determining if outside conditions are cold enough to request the heated steering wheel be activated during remote start operation. Heated Steering Wheel When the engine is running and the HSWM receives a request to heat the steering wheel, the HSWM applies voltage and ground to the steering wheel heating elements (integral to the steering wheel) to heat the steering wheel to a temperature of approximately 28-34°C (82-94°F). The heated steering wheel temperature is maintained by the HSWM using a temperature sensor in the steering wheel. The HSWM is designed to remain on, heating the steering wheel and maintaining the temperature until switched off on the FDIM or the ignition is turned off. The controls and indicators for the heated steering wheel system are located on the FDIM (touchscreen) only. The FDIM does not communicate on any network and is connected directly to the APIM . Remote Start System The heated steering wheel system (along with the heated front seats) may be configured using the message center to activate when the remote start feature is used, based on outside air temperature. During remote start, the outside air temperature is continually monitored by the HVAC system. The heated steering wheel system activation changes if the outside air changes from cold to moderate or warm temperatures or back from moderate or warm to cold temperatures. Good luck! -

Rough Idle/Stalling, Hard start after fuel

So both banks stuck rich (p2196 and P2198) small evap leak (P0456) throttle stuck open (P2111) throttle position doesn't match the TPS position reported (P2135) I know with my 2012 Fusion there is a relearn/calibration for the ETC (throttle pedal and Throttle Body). With key in ON position but engine not running, slowly steadily press down on the gas pedal until it is fully down, then release it slowly and steadily. I wonder if that might help with the P2111 and P2135. The purge valve on my 2012 (Fusion, with the 3.5) is totally different, but all the other codes point to it, so if the valve has been replaced multiple times, and possibly tested with vacuum. If you disconnect the wiring connector to it, and the hose to the evap, and start the car, do you feel a vacuum on the opened nipple that goes to the evap? Can you tell if there is raw fuel in the evap line? -
