Also, with a hidden setup, thieves will still try but be defeated. With the open setup, it will be a visual deterrent and will stop some from even trying.

I have some "insider" information on the construction of the these chrome clad wheels. Don't say I never did anything for you guys.
Just for this community, I have arranged for the deconstruction of a rim:
These things are bonded with what appears to be an epoxy based adhesive. These things "should" be serviceable. Ford would just have to sell the "caps" and a method to rebond them. Maybe an aftermarket provider will step up, but I kind of doubt it based on the patents pending.
(stay tuned to the forum for a post of the complete carnage with details)

Probably sends GPS coordinates bypassing the internal address/poi database.
I wish it could handle services using my phone wifi tethering instead of using the voice channel (a la fax)

On the MKX, it is currently a 3 stage system. Is it not on the Edge? I would have assumed they'd be the same.
Nope... 2 stages.
Setting 1 - Warm buns
Setting 2 - Burnt buns

Hate to bring up an old thread... but is the window lockout switch supposed to light up in the 2011 models?
IIRC no

I can get 5 sets right now at about 300 bucks a set.... so id charge that as a core or just mod existing ppls lights and return them when complete....
There is tons to workout in details but let's hope it does.... As these don't make me money but they do help the community out
If you get them for 300 bucks a set, I'd say you have a winner. Definitely good for the community.
-
I think id charge a core or outright purchase.... I used to do them for 525 on jetta's then plus w.e mods ppl wanted..such as ppg painted color matched backing, led markers or day time running lights, angel eyes, demon eyes etc.....
So there is lots of options available
That's the issue. Are you going to charge $750 core charge?
And you'll want to make sure that the cores are in good enough shape to retrofit. Either way, I think it will take some investment for the "working" set (it won't be lost, but it's still a required cost).
I wish the Edge headlights were as easy to come by as MK IV Jetta headlights.
-
WWell id do them for the 07-10 versions as I believe they could really benefit from bi xenon hid projectors
That's what I was milling around.
But the cost to get a spare set of headlights to work on will be ~$700. If you can find a cheaper source, then you might have something.

Hey all, im new here.. but im going to start doing the edge projector retrofits....
ive been doing them for years on bikes and cars.... and thought i would gauge interest on here
i only use top quality parts, using my main parts are usually fx-r bi xenon projectors and w.e mods and goodies you would like
So who else has retro's done? post up some pics if you have em
Whiteis33 and NWSalpine are a couple guys here that are working on retrofits for the Edge. Whiteis33 already blacked out the headlights and tails, REALLY hot ride.
I threw the idea of offering retrofits, but I think the price will be prohibitive. Especially on the '11+ where the stock halogen has a pretty good projector and does well with HID "kits"

Right on, thanks I guess I didn't look at the readout close enough. Could this info also be a Canada version Edge vs. American version Edge?
I would imagine that they use km/h to stay metric.

I just got my new MKX and was playing with the voice commands... When you shout out "Soul", it plays soul music. When you shout out "Rock", it plays rock music. While i was driving, some kids ran in front of my car, and I shouted "f**king kids!", and it played Michael Jackson!!
You've out done your self again Richy.
Well played.

2013 GT500 ....badass!!!
"
New for 2013<br style="color: rgb(62, 64, 71); font-family: Helvetica, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 16px; text-align: left; background-color: rgb(211, 214, 224); ">
The latest GT500 is full of new technology throughout, so much so in fact it might be a good idea to list out at least the bulk of changes in one place: new 5.8-liter aluminum-block engine, new 2.3-liter supercharger, six-piston Brembo front calipers, new and larger front and rear brake rotors, new brake pads, new downforce-generating front grilles, new and more aggressive front splitter, new quad exhaust system, (two) new forged-aluminum wheel designs, defeatable launch control system, new (optional) Performance Package featuring new SVT-designed Bilstein electronic adjustable dampers and Torsen limited-slip differential, with the additional Track Package adding an external engine oil cooler, rear differential cooler and transmission cooler...."
WOw... just wow

True but I much prefer the integrated approach if possible. I hate having clutter in the car and having stuff slide around. Besides for me it isn't just video in motion it is more for the other features they block like inputting an address while moving. Maybe with the next revision it will be a mute point but right now my voice recognition is terrible, I have less than a 50% chance of it making it all the way through.
Good point. I hate having to pull over to input something or waiting for a red light.

Hopefully not in the back, tailgate takes too long to go up.
I could see that being an issue
In a lock release system accessible only through MFT LOL ...
hahhahha

Hi All-
I been browsing the forum since I bought my Edge in October. I have seen a few people reference a way to view the average speed. I can only find average MPG. Does anyone know how to view average speed?
Thanks!!
It's in the trip meters section where you have Trip 1 and Trip 2

will the power point connections still discharge battery, if connected to ipod, even after turning off the engine and remove the key in Ford Edge 2011 SEL ? my 2005 honda odyssey turn off all power points after turn off the engine and remove the key from the Dashboard.
Power outputs (12V cig adapter) in Fords stay energized at all times.
I wish other manufacturers did the same...

It would be nice if it were to land on Christmas... highly doubted though.
-
I mean at this price, I could get myself a nice tablet to watch videos etc.

Where would the shotgun go?

Hopefully this 45 minute update process can be changed to a more environment friendly method that doesn't require idling a half-gallon of gasoline.

Recently I was searching through ebay for ideas/parts for the Edge and came across one vendor that claimed they had a lockpick that worked with the 2011 Edge and Explorer. I got excited hoping it was compatible with the MFT but when I went to the manufacturers site sadly it wasn't. But I did send them an email and they confirmed that the MFT version is in the final stages and should be released after the new year. So maybe we'll all have some working MFT software and a way to get around some of the interlocks they programmed in soon.
too bad it's still expensive as all hell.

You just made me sad. I traded in my 05 Legacy GT wagon that I modified. Really nice vehicle but they no longer make them.....if you want a wagon you have to get the Outback with the lifted suspension.
Funny thing. Before looking at the Edge, I wanted a 05 or 06 black Legacy GT wagon with the 2.5T. Couldn't find one, so I'm driving an '11 Edge.

Hmmmmmmmm. I suddenly want to move somewhere cold so that I have to buy winter wheels.
Those are nice looking wheels

I'm considering getting the rear view mirror with homelink for my 2011 ford edge sport. The description on it says, "Not applicable on vehicles equipped with Ford SYNC"
The current mirror is auto-dimming, so there is power there. I was thinking I could just swap them out, anyone have any experience with this or know that it wouldn't work?
Here is the link:
How come you don't consider the Homelink visor?
Regenerative ???

Since that last post in June, I have learned that the alternator in our cars is indeed a "smart alternator" that increases load in certain situations to regenerate more power to the battery.
Combined with the fuel cut to the injectors, this will help save fuel.
