Few issues: Brake Booster, Whine noise, Loss of Evap Pressure.
EdgeOn posted a topic in Recalls, TSBs & WarrantyMy Ford Edge was built in March 2011 and it's been 10 years and 2 months when the brake booster went out, whereas the brake booster warranty is for 10 years. Ford won't help. I called customer service. Additionally, ever since picking up my Edge from Mark Thomas Ford dealership repair shop for having both catalytic converters and spark plugs replaced, my Edge makes a high pitch whining noise like a turbo would, when exceeding roughly 3k RPMs. Doesn't make the noise when revving it while in park. Some say it could be the main crank bearing, some say other bearings such as water pump or alternator or ac compressor. My thought was transmission. Who knows!? Could "Large Leak Evap Emission" code related? Code P0455 135K miles.
Compliance Recall 18C06 – Incorrect Door Striker Bolts – 2018 Ford Edge & Lincoln MKX oemdtc September 20, 2018 Recalls NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V612 Manufacturer Ford Motor Company Components LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES Potential Number of Units Affected 503 Incorrect Length of Door Striker Bolts/FMVSS 206 If the doors open in the event of a crash, there is an increased risk of injury. Summary Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles. These vehicles may have door striker bolts that are shorter than intended. Vehicles with shorter door striker bolts fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, “Door Locks and Door Retention Components” potentially resulting in the doors opening in the event of a crash. Remedy Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the door striker bolts, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin October 15, 2018. Jessicabunyard posted a topic in Dealership & Vendor ExperiencesWent to take my Ford Edge Sel 2012 in because I got the black screen of death. Before I did this of course I read the forum to see if I could fix the issue at home. Pulled fuse 29 and also tried taking off the battery and putting it back on but the issue didn't fix it. So the next step was to take it in to the service department. I got there at 7:15am. The service guy name Eric greeted me and ask what the issue was, I quickly explained the black screen of death and showed him my recall paper with my VIN number. I asked him if it would be covered under this and he stated it most likely would but in the case that it didn't he would give me a call to let me know how much it would be to fix. So the courtesy driver took me home. While driving me and another family home he got a phone call which he went to answer. He took off his sit belt and at the same time pulled on the clip that was holding his phone while swerving into different lanes. Then talked for a minute and got off. By this time we were on the loop and he goes to put it back and starts to swerve again going 60. Finally I get home and I wait until 4pm and call for a update. I get the answering machine so I leave a message and hang up. I let an hour ago by and I still have not received a phone call back. So then I asked to speak to someone in the service department because I had not heard back from Eric. The lady then informs me that they are still working on my car and will hopefully be ready by 6 PM. She then asked me if she can call me back at 5:30 and I say yes. She then calls me back at 5:30 and told me my car should be ready and I should head that way . I get there and I ask if there's anything I need to pay for and the pregnant lady replies no that it was all covered by the warranty. Then she gets on the phone and asks for the keys and no one can find them. She then tells me that they're going to get my car out to the front and if I'd like to wait outside it will be there in just a moment. So me and my husband wait outside for about five minutes when finally another lady comes with the piece of paper and informs me that there was a mix up and they never worked on my car. She goes on to say that they thought I was picking up a different Ford Edge. So then she starts to tell me that the recall had expired back in 2011 and it would be $883.80 plus tax to get the black screen of death fixed. I then ask how that is possible when I just got the car 2 years ago. She said it starts from the time the car was first bought brand new and not used. I then asked why they didn't call me earlier and info me regarding this issue and she stated that Eric was sick and went home early so no one got to his cases until I called at 4. Can someone please explain to me how this could happen? How can no one pick up the orders from a person that goes home sick. How can a recall still sit on the website if it's expired. How can Ford not cover this issue when its a known issue. Why do I get penalized because I bought a used car. How are you okay with letting your courtesy driver talk on his cellphone while driving without a hands free device, also why is that car so dirty? This truly needs to be addressed.
Buy Back on 2015 Edge???

My keys continue to malfunction.....The dealership has had to reprogram twice since I have owned the car. They had it for 2 weeks and I picked it up yesterday and when I went to leave the doors wouldn't open, no button on the key FOB worked (lock, unlock, alarm, etc.). The only way in his through my keypad using my 5 digit code. The car also will no start unless I put the key FOB into the slot in the compartment between the seats. The manager said they did reprogram and it had been working all week until then. 2. My build date is March 12, 2015. When I purchased my car I took it into my local dealership to check on the leak recall - 15B21.They said it had already been performed a different dealership. Weeks later I noticed my driver side floor board had been damp. So I took it back in. They had the car for 2 weeks and I just picked it up yesterday and they told me they cannot get it sealed all the way. They tried and tried and did a water test but water still leaks through. So they have started the process for a Buy back with Ford. They asked me to contact them next week to get an update, so that's what I'll do. My questions is.... how likely will Ford Buy this car back? Will this be a forever long process? Do you think my key issue is related to water leaking in and ruining some computer /sensor that controls the programming of my keys? I am nervous they wont buy it back because I came across this article on the internet saying the program will expire June 30, 2016 for the Reacquired Vehicle (RAV) Process -- EXACTLY a month ago from today!!! ( this article is on Ford.oemtdc.com website -- I cannot get the link to paste)
2015 Edge Leak Recall 15B21
LouEdge117 posted a topic in Recalls, TSBs & WarrantyPurchased my used 2015 Edge Titanium in May and read about the Leak Recall shortly after so I took it into my local Ford Dealership since it's still under warranty. When I picked up my car at the end of the day they said that the Recall 15B21 for the leak was performed at another dealer. I certainly hope they were not lying, but is there any way to check for sure? I would like to see it documented somewhere. We've had a lot of rain the past week and a half, for the past couple of days I have lifted my rubber mat protection on the driver side and felt the carpet mat and it feels slightly damp. Not terribly damp, but still should not have that much moisture at all. There's no way my feet could go through my rubber protective mat and soak the carpet that much. I even lifted the carpet out and it has a slight mildew smell. Again, they claimed the repair was made. I plan to take it back in, but wanted opinions on here. It certainly looks like the carpet under my steering wheel has been moved around... it does not seem secure. I fear this car had significant water damage before I purchased. The metal steering shaft near the floorboard has a rusty color, which makes me immediately think of water damage, is anybody else's look like that? Appreciate any feedback or advice.

Leaking PTU 2007 Ford Edge - Recall???
Yoyoma posted a topic in Recalls, TSBs & WarrantyI have noticed numerous 2007 ford edge owners with the same issue I had recently, leaking transfer case PTU unit. I also noticed this same issue is happening with Lincoln's and Mazda's of same model type. I believe Mazda has offered owners some sort of compensation/recall/extended warranty for this manufactured defect. My question is what is Ford going to do about this very expensive repair that owners have to pay for that is a manufacturer defect? I did have it replaced for a pretty penny and now I hear a clanking noise when I turn that was not there before the repair. Does anyone know of any class actions on this?
Can Brake Booster cause Master Cylinder to go bad?
TexasLiberty3 posted a topic in Brakes, Chassis & SuspensionHey everyone, I have a 2011 Ford Edge, and like a lot of you, had the hissing sound from my brake booster back in the early part of 2014, and got my brake booster replaced in late May under warranty. It has never really been "right" since then, though it has been better, and I took it in 2 months ago for an oil change and mentioned it, and the service guy looked at it and they recommended I replace my brakes. In the last few days, I have had to push the brakes to the FLOOR to get the vehicle to stop, and now they are telling me I have to replace the master cylinder ($478.00 + flush the brake system for another $109.00) and I am ticked off. I asked the service guy if the issues with the brake booster could cause the master cylinder to become defective and need replacing, and he said NO. I am curious if this is true??? I feel like I am getting hosed, and should not have to pay for this, or at worst not all of it. Welcome your feedback. Thanks
