I am having the usual Door Ajar issue for the driver side for my Ford Edge 2014. The dealer mentioned that replacing the lock mechanism will cost over 1000$ and the issue is likely to recur anyways. I checked a few Videos online and found 2 solutions. Either I need to break the Door Ajar sensor / cut and ground the sensor cable or spray Electric cable cleaner inside the lock mechanism to somehow clean the sensor area. I prefer the later. I want a DIY solution without paying hefty amount to the dealer.. and most importantly solve the risk of hazard on the highway; as door ajar situation doesn't allow me to lock all the doors centrally and instead keeps them open. I've sprayed the lock mechanism and jerked the lock lever manually and for that time, the door ajar issue goes away. This means that the issue is solvable but the solution is temporary only! I need to know where the sensor is placed in the mechanism to target the spray there and solve the issue permanently. I've searched the location of this sensor online but in vain.

Hi, I (of course) was lucky enough to have the DOOR AJAR issue in my 2013 Ford Edge SE V6 AWD with Convenience Package. My question is ... can anyone out there tell me what wires in the door go to the open and close on the sensor so I can hook up another method (magnetic switch) that will work? OR if you know where to get a Wiring Diagram? Thanks In Advance!

Hi, I've read through several battery/electrical discussions, but haven't been able to come up w/an answer so far. Figured I'd try here: 2011 Edge SEL, 60K, drive 2 hours daily, car runs great, but over past 2-3 months have developed issues w/battery dying repeatedly, usually after parking overnight. In addition, random interior lights, instrument panel, and Sync screen tend to light up at odd times when the car is off and should be asleep. Bosch battery is about 8 months old and has been tested a few times and comes back as fine. Took the car to the dealer and they could not find a definitive answer. Their best guess was a bad shifter and related module. I had them replace, but the battery has gone dead 3-4 times in the 2 weeks since. I also have the Door Ajar issue, but that has been there for 18 months or so and the battery issues are more recent. Finally, up until recently, this was happening primarily on Sat/Sun mornings. I doubt that has anything to do with it, but perhaps there is a software issue since the car has generally been running fine M-F (and again, I drive about 2 hours daily on the highway).

OK, so the quick story goes like this. My Edge was in before the 60,000 KMs for the door ajar. They had me believe they changed the switches at that time, but only "cleaned" things as per Fords direction, protocol to follow. That's fine Solved the problem for a month or so. Just long enough to have me clear the 60,000. In this time Advance Trac Service begins illuminating occasionally. Apparently there is a TSB on this, checking on this site. So I bring it in, I have purchased warranty up to 200,000 KMs, the top that FORD offers through dealership before the 60 expired. So, andyhow, I bring the vehicle in, the new switch for drivers door is installed and it's fixed and they tell me they replaced the switch in the gear selector console. That warning is gone now too. Charged me $113 including tax for this. BUT, if they didn't repair the door ajar correctly/completely before the warranty expired. AND there is a TSB on the Trac Service warning, then why should I pay for the deductible. Any Ford Reps on here have an answer? I paid but I'm VERY skeptical of things and this vehicle now. I play by their warranty requirements to a T. The dealership changes my oil, filter etc every service interval. Cabin filter, air filter too. I'd rather be doing things myself to tell you the truth... and I can too. Probably MUCH more "attentive" to details than their rushed systems and mechanics at the quick lube. But anyhow... hope some Rep rings in here.

OK, by now we're all familiar with the driver's front door latch failing, causing the "Door Ajar" warning. Mine failed shortly before the warranty expired and I had it replaced. Well, this past weekend, I started getting the same symptoms from the passenger front door! And of course, it's at ~54K miles, so no warranty. Anyone else had this happen to doors other than the driver's front? Ford really needs to own up to this problem and fix it!
