  1. This is a kick off for the MACT Ford Edge/Lincoln MKX Facebook Live videos that I produce each Sunday afternoon on most weeks. The videos can be found live to the groups MACT FORD EDGE on the Facebook group of the same name or are later up loaded to the MACT Ford Edge youtube channel. They are also posted in HD format with some enhancements on the Facebook page and this forum. Hope you enjoy them. Here is what you missed last week.
  2. Hi Folks, Can someone point me to the location of the Ford Edge 2.7L Mass Air Flow Sensor(s)? Ours is a 2016 Edge Sport, 35k miles. I searched the forum, and am either searching incorrectly, or the information is not posted here. My understanding is that it is okay to clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor, but we should not clean the Throttle Body on a turbocharged engine. That is what I learned from the CRC videos. I am not a mechanic. I have been working on my cars for 40+ years. I am an engineer. 🙂 But I am not a mechanic!! Thanks - Doug
  3. I just got a 2016 Edge this weekend and while driving it for >2 hours I had no issues. Now all of a sudden, I see a P2096 code for Post Catalyst Fuel System Trim Too Lean Bank 1. Any ideas? Only thing I did was fill up at a gasoline station then a while after, I saw this code come up.
  4. Hi guys, I really want the sound so proper to turbo cars. I've seen a couple of post or video on F150 and Explorer Sport (3.5EB) that guys were just disconnecting and pluging 2 hoses, completely removing 2 others, and everything was done with the original BPV. Can this be done on my 2016 Edge Sport to have that same kind of result? If yes, I want to know where are the hose to plug and if (any) are to be removed like on the Explorer Sport (3.5EB). Also, would there be any significant advantage to completely replace a "stock" Vented-To-Air BPV system with a gfood dual port BOV, like GBC or Turbosmart? Thank you so much guys!

    2012 Edge Ecoboost Stutter

Basic Info 2012 Ford Edge SEL FWD 2.0L Ecoboost 116xxx Miles Tow Package 3rd owner 245/50/R20 Spark notes on the story: Purchased early January 2017 With the known DOOR AJAR issue. Took to dealer for this repair and asked for any recommended service and I requested a transmission fluid change as well. Dealer advised not to change Transmission fluid as "it may actually cause more problems" but advised on a spark plug change. According to dealer they did an inspection on everything else (fluids,Belts, timing, Filters ETC) and it all appeared to be fine. But I'm no mechanic so how the hell do I know. Replaced the plugs (for an outrageous cost might I add seeing as the 2.0 only needs 4 at 3$ a plug) and the door ajar issue running me about $475. Now the engine has started to stutter a bit but only at low RPM. Almost feels to me like the engine may be misfiring on one cylinder but not all of the time and only when I am stepping on the gas lightly. so far no engine lights or warnings. and it seems to be running perfect at higher rpm and highway speeds. typically i experience this issue in the morning when i first start driving the car and keep in mind it had been strange weather here in KY all the way from 20 degrees to 65 in the last week or so. I had mentioned in a previous post that i had thought this may be turbo lag but someone dismissed that theory. Any help would be appreciated. Best Regards, B

  7. In looking for aftermarket upgrades for intake and exhaust, there is hardly anything available for the Edge Sport 2.7 Twin turbo yet the F-150 2.7 Twin turbo has an incredible amount of choices...Can anyone tell me why there is so little for the Edge Sport?

    2.0 ecoboost longevity?

Anyone have some longevity data on these engines? Ford is already replacing the 2.0 ecoboost as of the 2016 model I believe. I was just curious seeing as how my 2012 Ford edge has 117,000+ miles on it and was not sure how much I could get out of it. I have seen older models such as 2008 with an excess of 230,000 miles but these are not ecoboost engines. If I have the highest mileage on the forum I will begin keeping a more detailed account of any maintenance. Best, B

New To The Forum! Ecoboost turbo lag?

Hey Guys, I know many forums require an OP in one of these welcome forums before you can post in certain topic forums so here it goes. just purchased my first FORD and so far I am amazingly pleased. 2012 Ford Edge SEL FWD 2.0L Ecoboost 116xxx miles Purchased for 10.5 which I thought was a steal. did my research and already knew about the common DOOR AJAR issue which I had replaced at the Dealer for about $300. but I got the dealership to knock off $500 for it so I felt very confident about this. i have put 2k miles on it since I purchased in early January 2017 and have had no problems since. I did however have a minor concern that I have noticed. and this might require moving this thread to another region on the website but i have been getting a little engine stutter since i had the spark plugs replaced at the dealership. i am not sure whether to attribute this to turbo lag or if the spark plugs may not have been seated properly by the dealership. this only happens around 1k rpm in first gear. any thoughts or info would be appreciated and I am sorry if this thread is in the wrong area. Best regards, B
  10. Has anyone done this with an Edge? I don't see it specifically listed but its the same motor. https://performanceparts.ford.com/procal/ Ford delivered tunes that will not void warranty and are legal in all states. I think the device is about $600
  11. I'm looking for a new tow vehicle to tow my ~3,200 lb. boat and was considering a new Edge. I currently have an older Nissan Murano that does a decent, not great, job of towing the boat. I was worried about towing with the CVT when I bought it but I've never had any trouble out of it in 145,000 miles. The specs on the Murano are close to those of the 2.0L Edge so I thought it may be an equitable replacement. My daily commute is approximately 60 miles a day so I'm considering the 2.0L in lieu of the 3.5L for its improved fuel economy and better torque. I'll haul my boat approximately 200 miles round trip on the weekends and I'm not overly concerned about fuel economy when towing, just during my daily commute. I've driven the 2.0L and it seems pretty gutless at low rpm compared to my Murano. Does anyone have any real world experience towing with this setup? I can't imagine the 20L Edge hauling 3,500 lbs. without major failures down the road.

  13. I have a 2013 Edge SEL Ecoboost with 43.000 Km and yesterday the power steering just stopped working on my way into work. I took it to the dealer which is luckily next door to my office but they cant fit me in before next week. They suggested I check the power steering fluid levels and top it up to get me through till Wednesday, but it's an ecoboost so uses electronic power steering, there isn't any fluid. very helpful. Anyhow, I was checking on the issue online and I can't see any problems on Edges, but it appears there is a recall for other models announced a few days ago and the issue looks similar. I have no warning message, no check engine light, power steering is just gone. Trust me, the Edge without power steering is a beast to try and turn at low speeds. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar issue. I've found similar issues reported on Explorers and Fusions, nothing on Edges, but I think 2013 was the first ecoboost year for the Edge and maybe they'll just start showing now. Up to this point the car has been amazing, best I've ever had, but this is making me a little scared. I'm not using the car again until I can take it to the dealer, it's just not safe as I cant guarantee I can get round a corner without drifting wide. I think some signals are still getting through, because sometimes halfway through a turn it seems to kick in, which means I'm suddenly way overlocked, it's dangerous.
  14. It's been a very long wait. Been a member here since 2007, in fact. Various reasons prevented me from making the purchase back then. But I'm glad I waited! Ordered in March, and after 13 long weeks, it was finally delivered on Friday. 2014 / 2.0 EcoBoost / white platinum exterior / 20" rims / sienna leather interior. I can't say enough good things about this car (so far). Excellent handling, quiet interior, great sound system and the 2.0 is more than capable of moving the car - no regrets getting this engine. 200 miles on it in 2 days just because I love driving it. And more to come! Looking forward to providing feedback as well as reading up on everyone else's experiences.
  15. PartsPaul

    Hello from Minnesota

PartsPaul here signing on to yet another automotive forum. As the handle implies, I currently am employed at a large Twin Cities MN Ford/Lincoln dealer doing what I seem to do best, selling Ford parts. I've been involved with parts and service over the past 30 years and seen lots of things come and go. I hope that if some of you have parts questions I can be of some help. Just bought (yup, on the D plan) my wifey a 2013 Ford Edge SEL powered by the 2.0L Ecoboost engine. I didn't get much feedback from the techs in the shop as to whether I should go V-6 or EB, so I let her pick the car she liked best. Between our two stores we had only a few 'off' colors available. I knew white was out of the question as she has been looking at a 2002 Taurus in that color for a loong time, 197,000 miles worth. So she picked out a Ginger Ale SEL with just a few options on the sheet, so I'll add some tasteful accessories as time goes on. Here are a few pics.Last one is the partsman's wagon!

  17. So I found a 2012 Ecoboosted Edge with ~10,000 miles for $25,000 The options are: 205a Package: MyTouch Leather Rear view camera lighting... Power Lift Gate EcoBoost They are asking $25,000 for it and I think this is a pretty darn good price for 10k miles and ~2 years old. What say your fellow Edge owners? Is this a great deal? Should I look elsewhere? I would like the EcoBoost for the extra ~3 mpgs as this will be our "long trip" vehicle.

  19. Ford Invests Millions in Cleveland Engine Plant, Supports Growing Customer Demand for EcoBoost Engines Ford plans to more than double its EcoBoost®-equipped vehicle sales globally this year Production of 2.0-liter EcoBoost for North America at Cleveland Engine Plant in Ohio to begin in late 2014 Ford more than halfway to its goal to create more than 12,000 hourly jobs in the U.S. by 2015 Production of 2.0-liter EcoBoost engines for North American vehicles moves from Valencia, Spain to Cleveland; Valencia will remain the exclusive production location for the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine for Ford of Europe-built vehicles; There is no impact on employment at the Valencia plant Cleveland Engine Plant Fact Sheet Ford EcoBoost Forum – To meet rising consumer demand for the award-winning 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine, Ford Motor Company will invest nearly $200 million and add 450 new jobs at its Cleveland Engine Plant. “This is our One Ford plan at its best – giving customers the power of choice to decide which fuel-efficient engine is best tailored to their needs,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of The Americas. “Cleveland Engine Plant was the first to produce EcoBoost engines and will continue to be a cornerstone of Ford’s strategy to deliver affordable fuel economy for millions.” The hiring builds on the creation of more than 8,100 salaried and hourly jobs in the U.S. last year, including 1,000 in-sourced hourly positions. Ford is more than halfway to its goal of creating 12,000 hourly jobs in the U.S. by 2015 to support new products and investment. Additionally, the company announced last month it plans to hire 2,200 salaried workers in the U.S. in 2013 to fill jobs in such key areas as Product Development, Manufacturing and IT. Production of the 2.0-liter EcoBoost for North America is currently based in Valencia, Spain. The investment in Cleveland will shift North American production to Ohio, while Ford’s Valencia Engine Plant will remain the exclusive production location of the 2.0-liter EcoBoost for Ford of Europe-built vehicles. Valencia will continue to produce and ship parts for these engines to North America. Overall employment at the Valencia plant will not be impacted. The Valencia Engine Plant will transfer some employees to Valencia Assembly Plant to support increased production for C-MAX, Kuga, Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect. Ford is making the move to assemble engines regionally to help meet rising consumer demand for the award-winning 2.0-liter EcoBoost and to optimize production capabilities around the world. Production of the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine will begin in North America in late 2014. Cleveland Engine Plant currently builds the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and 3.7-liter V6. The Ohio facility employs approximately 1,300 people. It has built more than 500,000 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines since 2009. EcoBoost cornerstone EcoBoost is the cornerstone of Ford’s global engine strategy to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Ford will expand EcoBoost production to 1.6 million engines this year – nearly 100,000 above the previous target. Delivering up to 20 percent better fuel economy than larger-displacement engines, EcoBoost uses smaller overall size combined with turbocharging, gasoline direct injection and variable valve timing to bring customers outstanding performance without sacrificing fuel economy. This year EcoBoost will be available on more than 90 percent of North American nameplates and by 2015, 95 percent of Ford nameplates will be available with EcoBoost engine technology. In 2013 Ford expects to sell more than 500,000 EcoBoost-equipped vehicles in the U.S. – a sizeable increase over the 334,364 EcoBoost vehicles sold in 2012. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine to be built in Cleveland is currently available in the Ford Explorer, Edge, all-new Escape and all-new Fusion, Focus ST, Taurus and new Lincoln MKZ and MKT Livery. The engine has won a coveted Ward’s 10 Best Engines trophy each year it has been available in North America.
  20. Hey guys! So, I wanted to quickly introduce myself. I'm Rob, aka Braeson (@braeson) or iBraeson (@ibraeson). I'm from Alberta, Canada and I own a 2012 Ford Edge SEL with 2.0L EcoBoost. Not only do I have a new Edge, I'm also BRAND NEW to the Ford name. Some background. In December of last year, I drove a 2006 Buick Allure CX. The tranny gave way as I accelerated at a green light. Just toast, gone. I was down to a couple options. Either pay the $4000+ to repair, or go buy new. I went with the second option. My wife and I settled on the Ford Edge, in Tuxedo Black. (Admittedly, neither of us were big on Ford, up until recently.) The EcoBoost and the research and write-ups I've read on it was the real deciding factor. And, WOW!. Are we ever happy with this decision! I picked it up nearly a month later on January 4th, 2012. The harder decisions I have to make now, are the mods and addons. (LOL!) Here's some of my "planned" projects: - KMC Rockstar wheels - HID conversion kit [if anyone has some advise here, that'd be great as I can't find decent HIR2 (9012) kits. Even a retrofit solution] (Ideally, I'd like to find blacked out hardware with HID projectors and LED halos) - Superchip (Only a maybe right now) - Cold-air intake (Again, suggestions would be amazing, guys) - Matte finish the chrome grill That's all I have so far. For now... Looking at the future of Ford and where they're leading to industry, I can't see us driving anything but now. Look forward to chatting with you all soon. R.
  21. Hi, I am moving from Canada to the US and just purchased a 2013 Ford Edge SEL with 2.0L Ecoboost Engine. It is Tuxedo Black with Black Leather interior. It also has a remote starter (2 Keys have Starter Control, 2 extra keys = 4 keys total). I am looking for someone to take over my monthly payments. I live in Mississauga, ON. Monthly Payments are = $685/Month which was done at 0% Financing. I have had the car for about 2 months and there is less than 6000km total. Also I had purchased the Ford Maintenance Package which includes all maintenance for the next 5 years/100000km. Please contact by phone at 416-254-1499 for more info. I can provide photos if needed. Thanks.

    Low-RPM Noise

Hello. I have a 2012 Limited with EcoBoost and I'm hearing what sounds like a rattling or vibration sound coming from the front part of the vehicle during low RPMs (at a stop light, idling, etc.). I started noticing this problem about a month ago but my friend says since the EcoBoost engine is smaller than the V6/V8, it will produce some vibration or rattling since the engine housing is not custom-fitted for the EcoBoost. Excuse my skepticism, but I'm not 100% sold on that fact. One other friend suggests that the noise is coming from where the windshield and A-pillar meet and they're rubbing together. Either theory seems shaky. Has anyone else experienced this problem or something similar to this? I haven't seen a Ford mechanic yet; I wanted to get any similar stories on here if I could. Thanks.
