I've had a 2011 Edge LTD with the Sony system in it since Summer 2011 and Sync has always been mediocre at best. I flashed it with 3.10 a year or two back which improved things but the last 6 months it has just been dying randomly for no reason. Usually it comes back a day or two later and all is well but this time it died and wont come back. I pulled the battery cable overnight with no success. I'm not sure if its the screen or module that tanked. I have access to forscan but haven't gone out yet to see if it sees the module. I checked the fuse and its fine. Does anyone have any forscan tips? I'm game to piece together sync 3 for it should my module be gone but I don't want to throw away good money either. Any help would be appreciated.

2012-2017 Multiple Vehicles ā With SYNC And 3G Telematics Control Unit (TCU) ā Inoperative Remote Commands From MyFord/MyLincoln Mobile Phone Application Some 2012-2017 Focus Electric/2013-2017 C-MAX Energi/Fusion Energi/2015-2017 MKC/MKZ/2016-2017 MKX and 2017 Continental vehicles operating with a 3G TCU on or before 16-Jan-2017 may not respond to customers remote commands via MyLincoln/MyFord Mobile phone applications. 2G networks were decommissioned on 16-Jan-2017. If the 3G TCU was operating on a 2G network, it will not automatically attempt to reconnect to the replacement 3G network. To correct, reset the TCU by removing its power fuse for 5 minutes. If the concern is still present, follow normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 415-00. Refer to PTS OASIS home page for TCU version identification. -
I have a 2013 SEL with Sync/MFT, non Sony stereo. I have been trying to get HD radio for a while now, and found that the receiver is built in the CD player. So I found an OEM HD stereo/cd/mp3 player on Ebay from a totaled 2013 Edge. I noticed that it had the same plugs on the back as my Edge receiver. When I got it, I plugged it in and everything works, including picking up HD channels....except the volume! Do I need to take it to the Ford dealer to have them unlock it, or type my vin number in to make it work? That's the question. There has to be a way to make it work, as what if your car got stolen and they took your receiver, you would have to get a new one and have them make it work. Any help would be greatly appreciated on this topic.

This is how you can create quad segments for your personalization of your MFT screen and show four different photos on one screen. A really simple thing to do and just adds that extra touch LOL- 2 replies

Most videos I have watched only cover the installation of the photo to the SYNC/MFT. This video takes you from the point of taking the photo then going to your computer and re-sizing it to the 800x384 size and then uploading it into your MFT/SYNC for wall paper It also shows you what happens when you have the incorrect type or size of photo for uploading and the subsequent error message. Follow this video and learn how to create and change your wallpaper on your FORD (all models with display)

Radio presets come and go....Now the reverse camera is flipped and shuts off..
aehowitt posted a topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Hey guys and gals. Im trying to help my girlfriend out with her car here and I feel like she's getting the run-around so Im hoping you experts can help us out. She has a 2011 Edge SEL. A few months ago some of her radio presets started to disappear randomly - Just showed an empty rectangle. They'd appear sometimes but not others. Also, the grid on the reverse camera disappeared. So we took the car in to get it looked at and they diagnosed it as SYNC not being up to date....They updated the software for free since it was covered under the APIM 12M02 CSP and that was it. We left the lot and the presets were missing in a few minutes. After a couple days, the reverse camera started appearing upside-down and soon after that, it would flip upside-down and then go to a black screen saying to contact the dealership. So we took it back to the dealership...They told us the presets were a 'radio problem' and that the camera was a 'camera problem'. Said they were going to have to replace the camera, and ignored the radio presets. I asked maybe if it was related to the APIM since its a known issue. They told me the APIM had already been replaced on the first visit and its working fine so no its not a problem. I insisted the APIM was NOT replaced and the person whom I spoke with started raising his voice with me saying it says right on the sheet that it was replaced and its working fine. I asked if the APIM was a special order part.....he went and verified that it was...and I asked how it was replaced the same day we brought the car in to get fixed the first time? He had no answer and said he'd talk to the mechanic. He spoke to the mechanic who said they installed it (?) but then verified with a manager using Oasis that an APIM was never installed in her car. SO, then they test the APIM again supposedly and say its working fine, and the problem is still the camera. I, today, said go ahead with the camera replacement. I asked if there was a software install associated with the new camera install and he said no - just hardware for the new camera. Still, he has no answer to the radio working improperly and refuses to address the problem unless they see it happen in person even though I have multiple photos of the malfunction. I don't feel like these are hardware related issues as the camera DOES work (upside down for a moment and then off). Also, he told me the preset issue was a radio problem (what radio? its the computer, isn't it?) I feel like the dealer is trying to pull one over on her. Any help you guys can send my way is appreciated. I don't know why they seem to be so reluctant to investigate all these seemingly software-related issues and just want to replace hardware. -
I have a Samsung S4 and the sync works fine, I have no issues until someone calls me. First my phone will ring and take about seconds for it to ring on my MFT. Then when I hit accept, the music comes back on for another 3 seconds and THEN to my call. Since I have no issues with syncing music at all I was wondering if there are any troubleshooting ideas people had... Also, I noticed that even though my phonebook is synced, the contact names do not show on the screen right dashboard console screen, is there a fix for that??

Hey everyone I have a 2013 Edge with MFT and just recently I started having some issues with the Navigation System. I start off at my house and have it give me directions and it will be fine for a certain amount of time then it will display "Off Route" and never really find its way back. It will show me well of the highway / road that I am on and it is becoming quite a pain. It has happened each of the last 4 times I have tried to use it. Interestingly enough I read somewhere that putting different tires on the vehicle can cause this issue. I recently swapped out my factory 20" Tires / Rims for 17" Nokian's recommended by my local Tire Supplier. This really doesn't make a whole lot a sense to me since a GPS is supposed to use Satellites and not depend on the rotation of the tire. Is there any truth to this as a potential cause? I was told that the 17's I went with are close enough to the factory diameter that I shouldn't have any issues with the Speedo / ODO. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes when using the volume up/down rocker on the steering wheel, it either doesn't response, or it "sticks", either minimizing the volume or blowing my ears off. It doesn't appear to be physically sticking or experiencing issues, and it's extremely clean (never had a spill or water, etc). Is this is a software bug, does anyone else encounter it?

My 2012 Edge Limited AWD is 20 days old today, so I thought I'd join the forum and write about my first impressions. We traded a 2003 Mercedes E320 sedan for the Edge. The Mercedes was a great car, but we were looking for something that was a little bigger, better in the snow, and a little less expensive to maintain. We also checked out the Explorer, the Toyota Highlander, and the Mercedes GLK before deciding to go with the Edge. The aggressive styling ("edgy"), the features, the technology, and strong incentives drew us to the Edge. We ended up $700 under "invoice," $2000 in rebates, 0% for 60 months, and no payments for 90 days. Seemed like a no-brainer. This is my first Ford product, and I was concerned about giving up the luxury and quality of the Mercedes for a Ford. Granted, the Ford doesn't have the real wood trim that Mercedes has, and the interior door panels are hard plastic on the Ford, but otherwise the Edge holds it's own. In fact, the seating on Edge is leather, compared with a synthetic material on the Mercedes. The "fit and trim" seems to be good on the Ford, and 20 days in there are no rattles. There were two big draws to the Edge that sold me - the technology and the sunroof. I'll start with my impression of the sunroof. In a word, it's COOL. I find myself keeping the shade open all of the time compared with my other cars where I would close the shade on sunny days. The level of tinting is perfect. The operation takes a little getting used to. There are two buttons used to control the roof - one only tilts open and tilts closed while the other slides the main panel back and forth and controls the shade. My thought is that one button should control the shade, and the other the roof, but once you get used to everything it works just fine. The system is equipped with a large fabric wind damper that pops up when the panel is slid back. It looks a little odd, but it seems to work well. Technology was another big factor in deciding on the Edge. I wanted everything and I got it. The keyless entry and push button start work great. The adaptive cruise control and the rain sensing wipers are awesome. Want to really impress your friends? Take them for a ride at night and watch their mouths drop when you show them the ambient lighting. To really put them over the "edge" change colors on them. Very cool. The exterior front lighting also gets a lot of attention. The Edge really shines at night. Now for the elephant in the room - MFT. You'll read a lot about the My Ford Touch system and SYNC on this forum and elsewhere. If you read the blogs you'd probably be as nervous as I was about the whole thing. Like I said, I wanted all of the gadgets on the car, so I had a long talk with my dealer before committing to MFT, and he assured me that all of the previous-version glitches have been worked out. Twenty days in my impression is mostly positive. There's a lot packed into the system, so you need to take an hour or two to run through everything. I'd send my wife into the store and stay in the parking lot just to take the time to learn it all. The "MFT Guide" app on my iPhone also helped. You have to remember, it's a Microsoft product, so (at least in my opinion) it's less intuitive than Apple designed products. I'm not bashing - just trying to offer some perspective. Thankfully, I haven't experienced many of the problems in my first 20 days that you'll read about on the forum. The screen did "get funky" once on shutdown. I turned the car back on, let it reboot, and turned the car off again and all was well. That only happened once. I've tried the satellite weather radar twice in storms so far, and both times it showed no rain. That, to me, is a Sirius issue, not a Ford issue. This problem is discussed elsewhere on this forum, so I'm going to try the solution given there a little later. I do have some small scratched on the screen that I now see after cleaning it with the Ford supplied cleaning cloth. They may have been there when I bought it, the car wash guys may have put them there, or I did it when I cleaned it. They are hardly noticeable, but the dealer is working on a solution regardless. I do recommend everyone is very careful when cleaning the screen. I also HATE the blinking circle around the triangle representing the car on the navigation screen. I get the circle - it's on my Toyota navigation too - but why does it have to blink? I find it distracting at night, so I tend to keep the home screen displayed after dark instead of the navigation screen. When you consider everything MFT does, my issues are minor. All things considered I think it's cool. So, after almost three weeks, I'm liking my Edge. It's got style (unlike the Highlander) and it's got technology (unlike the GLK). I worry a little about the future when I read about problems posted on this forum, but for now I'm impressed. I suppose, most people are probably drawn to posting to find the solution to a problem than to tell everyone everything is good. I'll keep you updated!

Hi all. I recently purchased a 2011 Edge Limited AWD. The salesman gave me a copy of the original window sticker and it list the Rapid Spec 302A which specifices the Voice Activated Navigation. Due to an oversight on my part I did not notice that the nav was not working when I picked it up. Being a long distance purchase (3.5 hrs away) when I contacted the original dealer they referrred me to a local Ford dealer to resolve the issue. The car is a CPO so I have the 1 year warranty and had no problem going to my local dealer. To shorten the story I've been there twice and the service advisor tells me (both times) that the only nav that come with the Edge I have is the turn by turn Sync version, not the map based version (i.e. Garmin) like I thought it had. The car did have the A3 SD card with it and all my research indicates that the service advisor is incorrect. I am awaiting a respond from Ford to verify this, but thought I may find someone with the answer here. Should the MFT screen have the map based nav system? Thanks, Andrew Painter

Possible fix for stuck at Loading... screen when you browse all channels with Sirius
OnTheFence posted a topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Hello All, So I had my Edge for less than a week and I have already experienced one MFT lockup. Pulling over and shutting off the car fixed that, hopefully reoccurances will be less versus more. I'm in IT so I understand software will lockup so we'll see. Anyway a separate problem that I"ve read others having is long "Loading..." screen when you browse Sirius channels and select Browse all Sources as opposed to viewing them by categories. I was just exploring the MFT and tried that, and that screen became stuck there for 3 days. Even after turning the car off and on over that time, of course. I could use the MFT fine, Sirius direct tune, presets, etc. but when I went back to Browse Sirius channels that same loading screen would come up. So I decided to start pushing buttons until I could stop that from happening, below is what seemed to force a reset of the browsing to categories vs. all sources, although I can't 100% say that for sure as the problem could have just resolved itself on it's own while I was playing around. Go to Sirius Options Set Category for Seek/Scan select a random category and then go back to the one you want. Then when you go back to Sirius...Browse...it should be back to by category. Maybe if someone else has this problem they can try those steps and see if they help. I'm too much of a wuss to try and lock mine up again. -
I'm having the issues where my voice control does not chime and does not ask me to say a command. From reading the forums, I see that one of the solutions is performing a Master Reset. The question is: will I need to reload 3.0.2 or will the reset simply "reboot" my 3.0.2 instance?
