  1. Hello from a new user to the forum. I read through 26 of the 51 topic pages and figured this is probably way off a normal topic for this forum, so I decided to just post. I picked up, what I think is an awesome 2013 Edge Limited, from an insurance salvage auction, as a side project. Everything has progressed well and I am really looking forward to finishing this build, except for the headlamp operation. When I got the vehicle, it came to me without a bumper cover or any lights. The vehicle took a hit in the driver side front corner. The issue I am experiencing is when I connect the battery, the headlamps come on, stay on, and won't go off. What I found is they were being powered from F57 & F78 (Battery Junction Box). I pulled Fuses F57 & F78 and the headlamps fail to light by cycling the headlamp switch. I confirmed battery voltage on Pin 2, which I thought would light the headlamp, however the headlamp failed to light. I replaced the Front Lighting Control Module to ensure I was , and found all other lights worked as expected. I would like to understand the operation of the HID Headlamp diagram. If there is battery voltage through F57 & F78 at all times, what causes the headlamps to go out and back on? Since I had to purchase HID Headlamp Assemblies (used), Ballasts (new-OSRAM 10R-034663), and Bulbs (new), I do not have any previous experience with this vehicle and not sure if my problem is within the headlamp assembly and maybe ballast wiring? Any help would be much appreciated. If additional information is needed, please let me know. Thank you, Rich
  2. Hello, I have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited with the factory HID or D3S lights that have the projector housings. The factory ballasts started going so I purchased an after-market 7K 9012 led kit as I was told it would fit. I'm looking for a wiring schematic for the factory light system and trying to see if the bulb will fit in the factory projector housing. I was told that the projector housing won't take the 9012 bulb but I could find some info online on how to modify it but came up empty. Is this a know issue or am I mis-informed. The aftermarket kit obviously doesn't plug and play but I'd like to try and get these in the projector housings and wired. Would I have to purchase a set of halogen housings from, say, a lower model Edge and then the bulb would fit? I tried searching in the forum but couldn't find any info. I'm surprised unless there's something I'm missing. Any info would be great. New to the site.
  3. For the 16's one month anniversary (under my stewardship) the front lighting re-do....is done. I dumped the Halogen headlight bulb in favor of an HID kit (6000k) left over from a previous project. A Diode Dynamics HD Relay Kit was used to be sure both HIDs power up (they're powered directly from the battery now) and never flicker. An easy install. The high beam Halogen has been replaced by an LED from Oxylam. This is actually designed to be a 6000k fog bulb which is fine because the high beam is now.....wait for it......my DRL. Thanks to a little trick with FORScan you can set the front facing bulb you want to be your DRL and HIDs are not suitable (they'd stay on 'all' the time at full brightness). So, end result: A 6000k HID now lives in each headlight, a very bright LED (also 6000k) is in the high beam socket (so operates during the day when the headlight is off as a DRL) and in the turn signal sockets are Switchback LEDs (detailed in an earlier post) which show 6000k bright right beside the DRLs during the day, amber when turning or at night (headlights on). Downside? One. The LED isn't as bright as the original 9005 Halogen when used as a high beam but I'm a city/freeway driver and haven't needed a 'real' high beam in many years so this will work out fine. It might be an issue if you're a rural driver in need of every high beam lumen to spot suicidal wildlife. The 'Night' look with amber switchbacks and HIDs on. The 'Day' Look with Switchback turn signals showing white and DRL (former high beam) on Comin' at cha Cheers!
  4. I'm going to apologize right off the bat if I suck at searching and couldn't find another post that answers this.. Has anyone in Canada, who has a 2013 edge with DRLs as the headlights, successfully installed HIDs that do not flicker when DRLs are active? Anyone in Canada with a 2013 edge install LED headlights (also function as DRLs during the day, full lights at night)? I'm looking around at a few places but most are located in the US and shipping costs are about half the cost of the kits. If I go through something like Amazon, they tend to be cheaper quality it seems. Any recommendations, tips, etc.. ? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hey there! My 2011 Edge Limited came with factory installed HID lighting with D3S bulbs. As many have noticed, the light output and color temperature is really lacking. I believe its 4300K. What do you recommend? Get an aftermarket HID kit or just purchase a replacement D3S bulb at 5000K or 6000K?

I have a 2010 SEL with stock headlight assembly. Looking at doing a HID conversion and wondering if I can get away with the stock assembly or do I need to buy projectors? Also seeing a lot out there on the new LED headlights; should i be looking into these instead? Thanks!
  7. Has anyone here installed the HID kit from Drivebright for the 2015 Ford Edge? I was just wondering if it's an easy-peasy kind of work for a not mechanically-inclined person. Thanks!
  8. Are the Vertical LEDs on the DLR in canada? I have Installed an HID Kit, and found that earler they were Staying on all the time and could not turn them off, after switching from Auto-On to Off? First HID Install I have Done Thanks
  9. Anyone with part catalog access, could you please check if HID-equipped trims have headlight auto-leveling?
  10. I have a set of gently used projector Headlights from Spec-D Tuning that fit all 2007-10 Ford Edge. They are the matte black finish inside not glossy black. Everything is in working order. Lens is not scratched. I am looking for $200 or best offer. I can ship to where ever you like. Or local pick up in Kansas City. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Thanks, Matt
  11. Hi, I purchased a 2011 SEL last week and pretty much the first thing I did was order some HID's for it. I used Xenon Depot before on my Acura RSX Type-S and had good luck so I thought I'd go ahead and try them again. Install was pretty easy, I grabbed 12V from the battery and grounded each headlight to factory grounding spots (bolts) in the engine bay and the rest was plug and play. I did use the relay harness that came with the headlights because the directions didn't say anything about not using them. So my problem is they don't always turn on, when they do I'm happy with the warm up time and color (5000k) but it's really hit or miss and I can't figure out why. Should I give it a shot without the relays? Anything else I can try? Thanks! Here is what I bought: http://www.xenondepot.com/9006-HID-Kit-Xtreme-HID-p/xt-9006.htm
  12. This weekend I installed a Drive Bright HID kit in a 2008 Edge Limited. The installation was very easy. It took about 30 minutes and on a limited I did not have to use the harness to connect to the battery. I did have to drill two holes to mount the ballasts, but it was easy and there is plenty of room. They fire right up and work with the auto feature. I bought the 5000K as I wanted bright white. They are brighter than the silverstar ultra lights I replaced. When I hit the remote to open the door, they flash a bit before settling in and they become fully bright quickly after the engine starts. Dan was easy to work with and I recommend his products. They can be found at www.drivebright.com
  13. Hello all, I finally pulled the trigger on an HID kit for my sport. I bought the 9012 kit from TRS, however I can't seem to get the bulbs to seat correctly. Am I missing something obvious here?
  14. hello, i'm new here and just purchased a used 2011 Edge Sport. I love the vehicle, however my one complaint is the headlights...they suck at night. BIGTIME!! so i have been researching HID kits for the Sport and have found that many don't sell a kit for the 9012 bulb and that many dislike and frown upon those who want or have HID kits in their edge. not looking for lectures on those who don't agree with HID kits, i am looking to ask those of you who have installed a HID kit, which one did you use? quality issues? longevity? really anything you wish you knew when you bought it that you know now. i have been looking at this one: www.carxenonhidkits.com/Edge-Halogen/High-Low-Beam-Beam-9012-Bi-xenon-Hid-Conversion-kit-slim-ballast-Ford-Edge-2011 thanks so much in advance for any help. 15. Hey everybody! I just wanted to show you all my successful installation of Dan's HID's! Loving them!
  16. just installed my TRS HID kit and wanted to get everyones thoughts on the beam pattern i am getting. does this beam pattern right for a HID kit or have i done something incorrect? i haven't tried driving at night yet to see the pattern on the road ahead, but wanted to ask everyone here while i waited for dark. thanks everyone.
  17. Hello everyone! I am proud to be part of this group, as I love my Ford Edge Limited. This is my first post so if I mess anything up (and I will) please forgive me and just let me know what I did wrong. Now here is my problem. I purchased a Race Sport HID kit to install in my 2009 Ford Edge Limited. I only changed out my low beams “H11” bulbs and now when I turn on my high beams, the lows do not shut off. I purchased the relay that runs hot from the battery, ground to the frame (same spot as my Viper alarm), one factory plug from the light to the relay, the two other out puts from the relay go to each ballasts, and then from the ballast to the light. It seems like everything is wired correctly and they work perfectly. When the lows are on the HID lights come on and so do the fog lights, but when I put on my high beams, the lows do not shut off. Why is this happening or am I so slow I never noticed that is how the Edge works? Is there a relay that could be bad and needs to be replaced or do I need to have it reprogramed? Thanks for any help that you offer.
  18. I have a '11 Edge Sport and I want to replace my headlight bulbs. I have read a lot on this forum about HID conversion kits and bulbs but the more I read the more my head wants to explode. I would like to have headlights that are a nice crisp white light. I've heard read that the Sport models do not have factory HID so I'm assuming I need a conversion kit or is there a halogen bulb that I could buy that produces a nice white light? I really like the Halo Projector Lens but seems like a pain. I would be willing to do the HID conversion but I just need some advice on what to do. Can someone please give me some advice so I can get working on this? Please help with specifics but not so much that my head will spin. Thank you!!
  19. Do I need a conversion kit to put a HID bulb in my 2011 Ford Edge Sport or do I just need the bulbs?
  20. I am looking to add HID headlights to my 2013 Edge. I was planning on using DDM, however they do not carry the 9012 bulb. Is there another bulb that works the same without modification?
  21. Anyone heard of it?? feedback if anyone has??
  22. So, based on some discussions throughout here i saw a numbmer of poeople running DDM Tuning HID setup because of cost savings over that other "M-something-rather". http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W $60 vs $150 certainly makes sense to me. Online you can find HID setups for hundreds more than that, but it doesn't mean they are that much better. Here is what I'm interested in: 1. I know a bunch of people said they have been running DDM without issues for at least a couple of years. But, I also saw owners say they have had issues with DDM without getting into specifics. I would like to hear what those issues are with DDM. Pros: cost and reliability (?). Cons: ? 2. Can someone clarify again please the low vs high-beam with these? The kit does not specify that it is low and high beam. Does that mean the way the Edge lights are built, the switch uses the same bulb but angles it higher for high beams? This is porbably a dumb question, but I just don't get it even after seeing a post on here about some magnetic swtich or something like that.
  23. On my 2011 Edge SEL, I have a compustar alarm, autostart. I love the comp-star stuff as its a quality product. Now that my HID's are installed, - with my switch on "auto" when I put my key in the ignition and click it to the "accessory" both headlights come on, then when I move it past accessory and I crank the engine over the drivers HID goes out. The only way to re-light the HID is to turn the headlight knob to "parking" then back to the "on" position. Subsequently anytime I remote start the vehicle at dusk, in the garage, or at night.... only the passenger HID fires up and again I have to manually turn off the lights (both of them) and then back to the "on" position to make both of the HIDS fire up. Does anyone know how to fix this issue ?? thanks so much.
  24. Hey guys, I installed some interior lights and HIDs today.. trying to figure out on how to replace the oem bulb at the bottom part of the side mirrors? Wanted to put a white L.E.Ds. i took off the plastic pc but cant figure out how to change the bulb? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Mark
