HID Upgrade 2013 Edge
griffithroberth posted a topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I was considering upgrading my stock halogen headlights to a HID system. I was looking at this system from https://www.xenonhids.com/dual-beam-hi-lo-9012-full-xenon-hid-conversion-kit.html?i=y3ezje If you could please advise if this is a good system to use to upgrade with. Also, I recently bought two new key fobs. I only have one key fob that was paired to the car. I put the vehicle in pairing mode and got the keys to lock/unlock the vehicle, remote start and panic all work great. However, the keys will not start the vehicle. When I try to use the key,the acc mode comes on just fine and then when turned over to start it says starting system failure. Did I do something wrong during pairing? I do not have the push to start nor do I have a power lift. The key and fob are all one unit. Thank you for the help.- 3 replies

Had an odd thing happen today. I went to the convenience store and when I got out of the car and was walking away I hit the lock button on the key and I didn't hear the door lock. I was only about 5 feet away and should have. So I hit it again thinking, "OK I just missed it." This should have activated the horn. It didn't. I walked back to the car and my doors were unlocked. I got back into the car because I didn't want to leave it unlocked, not the best neighborhood, and tried the door lock button on the door. The car door locked. I then unlocked the door and it worked fine. I tried the key button while in the car and I had to hold the button for a few seconds and it would work. Same with unlocking. So I got out of the car and held the button down a little longer while outside and the doors locked. I did my transaction and came back out. Hit the unlock and the drivers door opened right up. Hit is again to open the back doors and nothing, and it was within the 3 seconds. I went ahead and drove home. When I got home I tried the door locks again and they worked fine. Locked, unlocked, horn sounds, the hole nine yards. My first thought is that maybe the battery in the key is getting weak. I asked my partner who has the other key if he had had the same problem. He also had the same problem a few days ago, but again it seemed to fix itself. I know if I take this to the dealership they are going to find nothing wrong and they will work just fine, happens all the time. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks Michael

I've had the car (2008 Edge SEL limited) for a little over 2 years now and the key fob has been working great up until about 3 weeks ago. The car has a factory remote start built in and if you press the lock button 3 times it will start the car. Now for some reason the key fob won't lock/unlock or remote start unless you are within 5-10 feet of the car. It used to work from our second story apartment (if you stood at the window and aimed the key fob at the car). Today I replaced the battery (in the key fob) thinking it was going bad and was the reason for it not working from a distance. This didn't fix the problem. Anyone know what is causing this issue?
