Maintenance Schedule - Low Mileage 2016 Edge
2016 Edge Titanium AWD posted a topic in 2016 Edge & MKX
Was looking at the Owner's Manual for information on Time / Mileage intervals for certain maintenance to be performed, and concluded some time ago that we could line the Service Ops up, but would have to make our own interval schedule due to very low mileage driven. We bought the Edge used from a Ford Dealer with 48,400 Kms in June 2019 - with an in service date: August 2016. Vehicle was a special order as a Lease unit and it looked like a snow bird vehicle that had never been driven in Ontario's Salt / Rust Belt. We've taken really good care of it, cleaning the leather interior and applying leather conditioner, deep cleaning the carpets, vacuuming regularly, had it Krown Rust Proofed each year, and winter stored the alloy wheels fitting steel wheels and Continental snow tires. Between the two sets of rubber, we may never have to buy a new set of tires during its ownership, except that the All Season tires that came with it will need to be replaced this year due to age. I've changed oil and filter every 4 or 5 months or 3,000 miles since we bought it. The Edge has 72,600 Kms on it now, has had the coolant flushed and I'm considering taking it to the dealer for a transmission flush and fill, even though it hasn't reached the mileage interval listed for this service. In fact, a lot of the service intervals are so far out based on mileage that many of them would likely never be performed before we ever considered selling it, IF we followed the manual. But I think we are entering a 'severe service' mode since the vehicle doesn't go very far due to COVID and our driving habits as seniors. I was wondering if anyone else has created a revised maintenance schedule for low mileage vehicles like ours. Thoughts? -
I'm looking to print out instructions on how to change spark plugs. I have searched forums and found some old posts talking about doing it but links do'nt work when you click on it. I have watched the videos online but would be nice to have a reference under the hood while I'm doing this. Thanks, Wayne

Ford Edge Preventative Maintenance Schedule
DontTellMyWife posted a topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Hi guy, I'm new this forum as a member, but have used it quite a bit over the last 6 months. Really great information and resources here. I wanted to post a maintenance schedule that I've gathered from this forum and others to put it in a nice and easy table. Long story short, I wanted to contribute to something that is printable. That being said, this is what I've gathered. 10k 20k 30k 40k 50k 60k 70k 80k 90k 100k 110k 120k 130k 140k 150k Engine Oil and Filter Change X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X Tire Rotation X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X Engine Air Filter Replace X X X X X Cabin Air Filter Replace X X X X X X X Power Transfer Unit (PTU) Fluid Change X X X X X X X Coolant Flush/Fill X X X Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Flush/Fill X X X X X Rear Differential (RDU) Flush/Fill X X X Power Steering Fluid Suck/Refill X X X Brake Fluid Change X X X Replace accessory drive belts (if not replaced) X X Replace Platinum Spark Plugs X From this standpoint, and I know this can be a loaded question. Anything I should move around or add? Preventative Maintenance Schedule.pdf- 5 replies

I have a question about scheduled maintenance. This is what the manual says: It then goes on to say that under normal use (which qualifies for me) I can expect the prompt to appear between 12,000-16,000km. If they light doesn't come on, I shouldn't exceed 16,000km or 1 year. Now, we bought the Edge brand new last summer, and my wife took it in yesterday to take off winter tires and decided that since it was at 14,000km we'd have the scheduled maintenance done even though the light hadn't come on. So we took it to the Ford dealership at Thorncrest Sherway and they were really nice. However, they put a sticker on saying that we should have the oil changed again at 22,000km (that's after 8,000km of driving) or in October (after 6 months). So finally, the question: why are they saying we should have the oil changed so quickly? Is it the type of oil they used this time? Did we totally misunderstand the schedule and we shouldn't have waited for 14,000km to have it maintained?

This will demonstrate why you should change your transmission fluid sooner rather than later. Transmission fluid changes are cheap compared to the cost of a new transmission. This fluid flush was performed at a local shop I use monthly to perform oil changes, radiator fluid changes and oil changes.
